Hey! I had a couple rats as a kid and my friend has a cat we're travelling with so I've decided to get a rat. I've read through the rat threads on here but I'm still left wondering if it's possible have my rat in a little satchel bag and not in a cage/carry case? I'm already carrying around my banjo and pack so I don't wanna add another bulky item into the mix. Would love your opinions! Thanks folks!

The soft cases at pet stores are good for having a collapsible carrier but at night while ur sleeping ur rat might go exploring and not come back. I've heard of this happening with cageless traveling rats. But if you're willing to risk that then yolo. As long as they have a place that's their nest to fulfill that primal urge to nest and feel safe they should be happy
