First trip out of phoenix

Aye, my name is Kyle and in 7 days i am leaving with my 2 good friends, to head towards LA or SF. We all all pretty much ready for the most part but were not 100% sure how we are getting out of central Arizona, we are going to try to get a ride with a friend to see a punk or ska show if we can find one in la or somewhere in southern California. where not that interested in hitching out of phoenix because its so hot, plus i heard its kinda hard to get rides, and real easy to get picked up by the cops. If anyone has anything to input it would be appreciated.

I will likely be in Central Arizona near Phoenix as well, after coming from philly in july, if all goes well with this ride that I'm getting hooked up with. So I'll take note.
