Question how to diy a cheap but solid bike trailer

Just recently got a really cool zine/book called How and Why put out by microcosm publishing which has a couple of incredibly rad diy bike trailers made from salvaged bed frames, bike tires, and plywood, plus only like ten bucks in hardware that could be assembled with basic tools. One pro of...

    ecology-interested weird human seeking others

Hi and welcome. Fellow ecology enthusiast here as well. Do you have any favorite books in that realm? I'm usually northeast based, though I do the sort of nomadic worker thing, so where exactly I am varies. Dunno what your level of interest in travel is, but I gotta say it's worth checking out...

Cool to see. I've been thinking about doing the zine thing for a while now and am about to have some free time next month. Do you have anything currently out? Like, if I give you an address and throw you some money for printing and shipping could I get ahold of some of what you've printed in...

Where my Podcasts at Mutha-luvvers ?

Favorite podcast of all time is The Ground Shots Podcast . The official subtitle is that it explores our relationship to ecology through storytelling. It's basically a nomadic gal who's very involved in the wild herbal/medicinal world interviewing friends, many of whom are or have been nomadic...

This book outlines many self induced abortion methods with a level of detail that is very hard to find on the world wide web. It was created by the Sage Femme collective and is copyright 2008. Obviously, this info is use at your own risk.

    Crustpunk/rainbow friendly communes and sanctuaries?

https://thefreegarden.org/ Never been here, but I've been really curious about this place lately. They have an open door policy that you can come anytime, no prearrangements. They'll house and feed you. If you stay more than three days they ask you to help do some work and rent is ten dollars a...

Shantyboat Living and Learning to Sail

Crewseekers requires you to pay to message folks for jobs, I'm pretty sure. I'd recommend Available Jobs - Tall Ships America - https://www.tallshipsamerica.org/billet-bank/ as an alternative. Tall ship folks tend to be more versed in knots and things that may be helpful on a shantyboat. I've...

Good suggestions for a decent knife?

Mora's are good, as mentioned. I really like my buck knife, and you can get replacement blades through them really cheap, though I've never needed to.

Howdy, I'm a tall ship sailor and sail bum, looking to share some experience

Hi! And welcome. I'll add that the sloop Clearwater has a great trainee program. They're full up for next season,, but they take total greenhorns for a little over a month and you learn everything, get fed and housed, and make 100 bucks a week to boot. What all tall wooden boats have you...

    Preferred way to repair clothes?

Glover's needle and embroidery floss is my favorite method. I've learned I need to make the patches bigger than I think they need to be (better to have a few big patches then a lot of small ones--less weak points) and overlap part of the new patch over the old. My clothes are stained, but it's...

Ask me anything about vehicle repair

Wanting to repalace rear side window (it's static, doesn't move) in an old Toyota 4runner. I've got the window from a junkyard...was planning on using window weld to put it in, and duct tape on all 4 corners. Want to do it on a warm day... I've helped a friend repair windshields this way, but...

    Great jacket

That's awesome. Sounds like a really great find. I've been wearing the heck out of an oilskin jacket I got for a quarter of the original price recently, which made me wonder... If the original jacket you had was truly straight up cotton, I wonder, if someone had one of those and didn't have...

    Sloop Clearwater Adventure

This may be a bit of a pic heavy post, but I thought I'd share some pictures of my time on the fine and splendid Sloop Clearwater this fall. The boat was the dream of folk singer and activist, Pete Seeger, and celebrates 50 years of existence this year. I arrived on the boat in New York City...

The boats built vary some based on whether they are building on spec or on commission. You can bet on building lots of rowboats or tenders, as they're called here. The style of tender they build is called a Monhegan Skiff. It was originally designed for lobstermen on the island Monhegan. The...
