Yo, I'm Sen, or Red either works, I'm a 31 year old IT tech and I am sick of running on the capitalism treadmill. I'm mostly interested in hitchhiking and train hopping, but I'm definitely eager to learn about a little bit of everything.

I've never been content with staying in one place and my current record for living without moving out of state is 6 years and that was 14 years ago. When I was a kid I moved twice a year and then once a year and have been moving someplace else every couple of years. Honestly, the idea of 'settling down' and staying in one place for 10 years or more freaks me out, and I've been stuck in my current living situation for 5 years already (Covid, family issues, and lack of work have kept me stuck. Or so I thought. )

Only recently did I start thinking about Trainhopping and start looking into it. I wasn't even sure if something like that was still possible, boy was I surprised! I think my goal is to get to a point where I can just kind of drop everything and go on the adventure of a lifetime all over the US. I'd have quite a lot of prep and probably give it a couple years (Since I'll have all my debts paid off then) but I'm definitely interested in doing smaller trips in the meantime and getting used to it and connecting with folks in the community.

Well, enough about me, I'm happy to have found this place and even more excited to get talking to you all!

I've been perusing the travel stories section myself lately, the pct hike experience by sgtpickles is a must read imo. He writes at length about some of the physical struggles you should expect to face on the road, and although some of it is particular to the pct trail I found his insights to be incredibly valuable nonetheless.

It is a good time of year to maybe join a travelling carnival for a season or 2, I did it years ago when pay was crap and sleeping arrangements were wherever you could throw your bag....Hard work but after the first couple of jumps you actually look foreword to them. Never in one place long enough to get tired of it...Always a bar open after closing...Meet lots of fascinating people...Just a suggestion.

Definitely sounds interesting but I'm not sure what I would be able to do seeing as I have a big ol fear of heights, unfortunately, but maybe something to look into nonetheless
