?Which boot is "your" friend on the steel?

I dropped $200 on Red Wings with vibram soles - they were something I saved up for and I was REALLY apprehensive about buying them, but, it was the best way I could have spent $200. If you're going to spend a stupid amount of money on anything if you're traveling, boots are it. I mean, it's important to have high quality boots.

And, red wings are union made in minnesota! And their leather comes from a factory in the same city. Cool shit.

And, damn, my boots look fuckable - they're so sexy lookin'.
 
i've got a pair of docs with a lifetime warranty. check the doc website, i'm pretty sure it's the only place you can get them. they're really comfortable.
 
my last 2 pair of boots have been a pair of the 10" logger hathorns. they break in well and quick. very sturdy. good stitching. made for wildland fire fighters. but now I have a pair of Danner flash point II's. fucking amazing boots. google it. they are rad. wildland firefighter boots again. with a sort of vibram rubber sole material around the base of the boot. over the leather. both are kinda spendy but well worth it.

Danner makes some high fucking quality boots. They are definitely a serious step up from Red Wings.

I talked to a dude in Moscow, ID who owns a rad boot sale and repair store, and, he was saying that Red Wings will last about 5 years, if you care for them. But, he said that Danner's (or Wesco's, I'm sure) will last 10-15 years with proper care. That's some serious shit.

I've said this a few times, but, I'm going to reiterate what menu said "FEET DESERVE TO BE TAKEN CARE OF." It's very seriously very very important!
 
Not sure about Danners, but Wesco's you can send back to the factory to get rebuilt when they get worn out for a fraction of the cost of a new pair.
 
I just bought A pair of redwing steeltoe boots like new at a local thrift store for 1.00.
I have een wearing them for the last few days to get break them in a bit and I think they will do just fine for the price lol.
Also had a pair of dr martins boots (not the type you see in the mall shoe stores.these were aire wear but different stlye,like they had more padding in the tongue and such .)that I dumpstered in arcata ca,and I wore them coast to coast for about two years and have to say they were probably the most comfortable boot I have worn.

Not knockin' at all dude. I hate walking under a full pack in boots unless it's muddy or snowing or something. I wear sneakers too when I'm not barefoot or wearing my rope sandals. But I have a pair of veg shoes, and I'd suggest these Ice Patrols for you Shoestring

Havent bought many boots before. Maybe everyone can agree a good heel gripes a ladder better and a stiff sole helps when walking on ballast rocks. Seems like useful qualities year round. Ps fuck zipper boots
 
I got kicked down a pair of grinders that I've been traveling with as of late and I really like. The soles are great on ballast and they aren't too heavy. The steel toes get pretty cold but I don't notice because I wear good socks. Plus they have had no water sneaking in and despite having walked through clubtless streams and been rained on hard.
 
How does the durability of keene compare to merrell in people's experience?? The keenes are a little more comfortable but not sure if I should buy them or if they'll last as long...
Also there's a place here selling Bass brand boots pretty cheap ???

I've heard that goretex loses its waterproof when dirty, Have you had any experience with this?
