Hey folks, just a quick update to let the community know that I've finally gotten things back in order here on the website after the database move and rebuilding several portions of the site.

@reeed was incredibly helpful in restoring the file library, which I had just about given up hope on getting back. if you need some tech work done they have my full endorsement.

The database is cleaned up (cleared out old junk from as far back as 13 years ago!) and the StP website is running better than ever!

I did incur quite a few hundred dollars in extra expenses over this period, so if you have some extra cash and wouldn't mind sending it our way, a donation would be much appreciated!

Now that this stuff is out of the way, I will be resuming work on updating the second edition of The Anarchist's Guide to Travel, which is about 50% finished.

Just stopping in to say I appreciate seeing my work used for good instead of the usual scamming and dick pics. I've contributed and created a lot of software over the years and the vast majority of it has been used for bad things. It's refreshing to see a place that isn't plastered with ads or being used to plot terrorism.

I'll never forget the day I was sitting around at my Grandparent's house watching the evening news when one of my software projects popped up on the screen. It was being used by terrorists overseas to plot attacks against my own country. Not much I could do about it. Thought about saying something (Hey! I made that!) but no one ever listens to anything I have to say anyway.

All my peers sold out to big tech. Meanwhile I'm starving living off noodles watching all this crap I made being used to spy on my friend's and family. If I knew things would end up like this I wouldn't have ever bothered getting interested in software in the first place. It has ruined just about everything I loved about life and most of the people I love are addicted to it. If I knew I could get away with it without causing harm I'd make an attempt to shut down the power grid. Feds have already showed up and harassed me for war gaming it. Oh well.

What the fuck does this have to do with anything we're talking about here?

I ramble. What I'm saying is you wouldn't be talking to each other at all if I hadn't put in work years ago. I am happy to see my work used for good things instead of the usual bad stuff. I've been really depressed about my work being used for evil for about the last four or five years. I got so sad I stopped programming all together and started to shun all technology.

Imagine creating something in the hopes that it would help people educate themselves and come together to mutual understandings. Then they take your work and use it to share porn with each other and spread hate. That's the kind of thing I see everyday. Most of the stuff I made has been used to enslave humanity and turn them against each other.

I found this place a long time ago because it was in the list of websites using my software. I used to go through that list every month or so and look for interesting places. The only reason I post on here is because of the requirements to read the private areas. When I found this place years ago you could lurk that forum without an account. Now a days I don't participate in online communities and discussions much. Sometimes it feels like all the interesting people logged off forever. When I do find interesting people they usually end up banned for no reason. There are too many immature people swinging ban hammers now a days. Too many people getting in petty fights over things they shouldn't even know about. I miss the old days when people didn't use their real names and use pictures of themselves for avatars. We had real freedom and got along better. You didn't know if the other person was black, white, female, dog, purple, or an alien. It didn't matter. All that mattered was the contents of what they posted and whatever work they uploaded along with it.

I ramble. Sorry. I'm just happy fun places like this still exist is all. If you saw some of the websites running my software you'd understand. I've wrote a lot of software over the years. If you own a cell phone you're using stuff I created. That's why I'm so depressed these last few years. I know my work is being used to do horrible things.

you're still not making any sense. at no point have you mentioned WHAT software we are using that you supposedly created. that's kind of a key ingredient to the conversation if you want people to understand what the hell you're talking about.

also, way to derail a thread? this thread has nothing to do with what you're saying. since you wrote the software (i guess) i would assume you know this? at this point your comments are making yourself out to be a complete crazy person and i'm wondering if I need to ban your account.
