Any instructions on getting there? i.e. from Amtrash station? Bus station? and freight yard?

Wasn't there a posting on StP a while back about that abandon naval base , it wasn't a good place to be because some people got jacked? If someone can correct me on that!

Would love to be there! I have a few days paid vacation coming! Otherwise, I'll end up at the Train Fest event at Wisconsin State Fair Park on November 9th & 10th. THANKS!

Also they have out fences around the base and are doing work on it again. I dunno if they are sealing all the doors and windows again or if Disney is finally making it into their cruise ship stop. Just a heads up!

Yeah, there is totally security there but they seem rather lax. I figure we'll probably explore the base at night time and as long no one is running around screaming like banshees I think we'll be alright. It's UrbEx so I imagine we'd all know to be somewhat stealthy. Good looking out though!

As it stands this Jambo will probably be more like a three day hangout than anything organized. With not a lot of time to plan we're kinda just flying by the seat of our pants here.
 
It's started. I have that xmas eve feeling I used to get as a kid.

Can't wait to see friends and meet new folks!

Barring the universe taking a right turn, I'll be showing up with my caravan/road dawg friend.
 
Sorry, Y'all. I just got offered a once in a lifetime career opportunity, and unfortunately I start the job right before the Jambo.

I wont be able to make it this year, but I'm pretty sure everyone will be able to carry on without me ;)

Kinda pissed though, because I've never been to NOLA, and this would be one hell of an introduction.

I really wanted to ride through TX and LA too =(
 
Whats the plan? Are alot of you camping at the location? I really want to come but I will be in Denver that week and could make it down but also have other plans for the rest of November and I'm not sure which way to go, east or west... LOL.
 
My road dog and I are trynna catch a train there but it'd be rad to have a back up plan if anyone is driving there from FL/GA/AL and has room for us n 2 packs.
 
so, i got some very exciting news, i got hired for an IT position in Austin, TX! it pays a fuckload more than the 10/hour im making working this porn store in nola, so I'm not passing it up.

they need me on monday the 11th though, which means i'm going to have to leave early on sunday. still gonna be around for friday/saturday though!

on the plus side, if anyone needs a ride to austin, i'd be happy to have the company.

Fuck ya, Matt! Congrats! I was wondering if you were going to break into that IT sector. Good on ya. Really wish I could make it down there this year. Next time around.
