Ugh, fuck that. Just went through Townsville and like most beach towns found it great because of public toilets and showers and swimming, plus lots of beach front bbqs.

Didn't get bothered by anyone and the other local homebums were friendly. Fuck that dumbass mayor hating on homeless folks for living their lives.

In Melbourne back in 2017, they had groups of police go around the city arresting and moving on homeless, theres an area or was an area right next to Flinder street station where people set up camps and places to stay, the police also went to that spot and there was fights between police and homeless and people protesting.

uhhhhhggg. these people sounds so uneducated saying shit like “they choose to live that lifestyle” when addressing cycles of poverty and addiction. anyone with an slip of empathy or the most basic knowledge of psychology & sociology know that statement to be completely untrue. disgraceful to have politicians spouting this kind of prejudice rhetoric. north queensland is frankly fucking WILD. country australia hasn’t progressed on from its severe marginalisation since the 70’s.

if they wanna ‘get to the root of the problem’ pump more money into NFPs so theres open access to trained professionals and support systems for these vulnerable people. ya gotta create a foundation of growth for the fucking community at some point.
