Plains/Steppes with no People?

Plains as in large flat areas of land.

Where can I go in the US to find plains with no people? Not exactly desert (although feel free to mention some if you think they're good to check out) as I'm looking for something more temperate and less full of snakes and scorpions. Just wide open space with no civilization in sight, I'm looking for solitude.

The few times I've been in Arizona I've been captivated by the huge flat space, I've always wanted to visit Mongolia for the steppes. I'll be rubber tramping if that matters.

I'm not sure... but I think... if I try to be a "mind reader" and read between the lines... OP is asking for adivce on specific location that will not have "civilization" harass or chase away a hermit soul...

Like I said.. I'm not sure of just putting it out there.

Also not sure they exist anymore... at least sooner or later... someone... a ranger... a wildlife camera... property owners... satellites... skynet...

they find you in the end.

Buffalo Gap National grasslands in SD might fit the bill. Lots of other BLM land in SD would be accessible, but not necessarily empty of people.

What about the Great basin plains? 🐎

Plains are epic though..
