Dude, I wouldn't fuck around with the machine. I would give it to some youth that is much more serious about getting into an apprenticeship than you are.
 
practice on pigs.. dead alive whatever floats your boat but dont be stupid and fuck your shit all up trying to learn to tattoo... once you get good on pigskin then move to your own body.
