Hey guys, discovered this site about a month ago. Been pretty much just lurking and soaking up info and stories since then. I did some traveling for the first time last summer, and mostly had a great time!
I was with my girlfriend at the time (no longer together thank the universe) and we ended up leaving Colorado last fall, when it started to get pretty cold. We met a bunch of amazing people, and some sketchy ones. Had alot of ups and downs but after being housed up after traveling, I have realized that the road was much better to me, and this feels like a waste of life.
I've been housed up in upstate NY for close to a year, working a steady job, being harassed by student loan collectors, and its driving me absolutely crazy! I have been getting gear, saving up to pay my car insurance for a year, and getting ready to take off again, this time with a car. (Was hitching last time.)
Anyways from the bit i've read so far this seems like an awesome community with a wealth of knowledge! Thanks for every post and story. It has inspired me to travel again, cause life is short and I don't want to spend it all in one place. Will post a profile picture when I get more minutes for my phone, till then just assume i'm a government agent cyborg.
Edit: Also, when i do leave (around new years, maybe a little after) I will gladly make a post in the Rideshare section of the forums. Will post some stories soon, and i'm sure many in the years to come. Some more about me, I love nature, good books, and the gool 'ol grateful dead! Among other things, those things just come to mind first!
