That One Guy
Like the title says. Here be my bag. Its a molle outdoor bag so i can attach pouches to it. So Far I've had up to 20-25 pounds in it and it held it prettg well. Has a chest strap but not a waist strap. Can i get some opinions on it?

no waist support is a pretty big deal breaker for me, but ive heard decent things about molle packs.

Cool post, although we sometimes see people asking about their packs - we mostly see people in general asking for advice on packs.

I have a few, but prefer a lightweight during the day (I travel to from an office with clothes, food and laptop - I'm never without a pack hehe) - expandable camelbak that has minor strap for waist but I also have a no name internal frame backpack that I'm changing out this year so it's external frame.

But I must add I really do like my waist support - as I use the one big pack for grocery shopping and that probably 40+ (nothing to traveling people) - the waist support greatly reduces that shoulder strain.

Thanks for the tips y'all. Ill definitely be switching to a bag that has a waist strap and chest strap that carries 40-50lbs and still has a molle system

A chest and waist strap is a must in my opinion especially if your attempting to catch a train on the fly, not that I am recommending that you do but you should never jump off a train or hop a train that is in motion however at some point and time most of us do it.

That chest and waist strap helps in a lot of ways, it helps to prevent the weight from shifting in a unpredictable fashion, such as bending over and in other ways that I have not mentioned. It helps reduce the strain on my back and shoulders as well.

It is certainly a nice bag but if your going to carry a estimated weight of 40 to 50 pounds than you will be much better off investing money into a bag that does have a chest and waist strap. Certainly keep us posted. Safe travels and good luck.

Mudd, remeber that mollie pack sack you had in flordia a few years back. You crammed so much on that molle pack, the wool blanket and bed roll were busting out. Then we found that old pickle pack , you still rocking it?

That pickle bag was one hell of a bag and it was one of the most reliable and durable bags I have ever had, however I ended up giving it away. It was givin to me and I wanted to return the favor. I ended leaving it folded up under a bridge in the hopes another fellow traveler would find it and use it.

My back is not what it once was and do to this fact, I can only carry half the weight I once did. Theses days I need waist straps and chest straps. Where are you theses days? How is Oscar?

If my back wasn't so bad I still would be using a pickle bag but age has a funny way of catching up to you.

I cant carry all my gear anymore. Back keeps getting stressed even when i redistribute the bulk to yhe middle of my back and lighter. a on the too and bottom. No more cook pots and stoves. Single pan and i build a fire now.
Oscars fine, he is housed up too!

Brother, it happens to the best of us..... We sure the hell are not getting any younger...

Just my two pennies....I've been in the chest vs. waist strap debate before when I was in the military. I've found that height makes a difference. I'm short, so having the load secured to my chest has always more sense for me, but my buddies that were tall preferred to use their waist straps more. Using both was preferred when doing more than just walking/jogging of course.
