I'm Rachel. I originally joined STP in 2010 or so during my heavy traveling years but my account closed so I rejoined in 2020. As of mid May 2025 I am recently outside again after two years of building a home with my partner as a retired Traveler. He and I semi retired into urban camping locally for seven years starting in 2016. Now I have to find my way again, trying to keep in my partner and an aging parent I care for often. If it was up to me I would just back pack up and leave, picking up where I left off and traveling further than I did before. I often wished I could just leave while living a settled life inside.

One thing I have to say is I am very grateful for STP to still be here online especially after that post about it possibly shutting down.

Thank you Matt and everyone else involved who did not give up.

My ultimate purpose is to write two books on what I've seen out there all those years and one is going to be on homelessness, as the legit system is so corrupt and kept from public view. So many people I've met could have such improved quality of life if only they realized they could test their meddle and become Travelers or at least travel to another location to be homeless and probably it would suit them better and they could get back on their feet. I know that in recovery in needing if they say that geographical cure does not work for addiction but it certainly does work for homelessness.

I will never forget the really drunk guy this little redhead who met me in Albuquerque when he was panhandling trying to get to a rainbow gathering and he told me to come with him no harm at all he just wanted to show me how to travel and something alternative and I went with him and realized that I could hitchhike I could ride trucks or find alternative modes of transportation to get around, and that the homeless industrial complex was not a prison of misery that I had to stay in I only stayed a short time in it but I will never forget all the people that I have met that showed me how to travel.

I think he was part of A camp or at least hung out with them because he was so drunk all the time and I think often about what has happened to him and probably the outcome isn't going to be very good but you never know some people that we don't expect to get clean and sober do.

So hello again to all fellow Travelers, urban campers, rubber tramps and houseless persons.
