Alright, so I think this may have been posted before, but the thread's been lost since, and I'm sure my case isn't the same.

I want to see if I can take my Hardcase with my traveling, but of coarse it's big, bulky, and I don't want to lug around this behemoth in my hands all day. I wanted to know if anyone has figured out a way to convert their hardcase into some sort of pack... I've heard you can drill holes and run rope through the inside, but I don't want to risk it until I get a second opinion.

Any ideas?
 
dang, have you considered investing in a case that is not square?
It would be far easier to handle and much lighter to carry
Alternatively, a soft, padded, case would be even lighter and much more convenient to roll with, but then you need to be much more carefull.

Eh, I'm kind of tight on money. =\ This is the case it came with... I have a soft case, but I really don't want anything to happen to my guitar, you know? I'm not sure I trust myself enough with a soft case. Besides, this case has a lock. Deters drunk string-breakers. :P
 
i'm catching out for my first time in june and i was considering getting a new guitar and hardshell case and so i got the guitar and it's a mini junior student guitar and it was like $75 new and i think i'll just use a soft case.
i'd highly recommend just taking a guitar that you wont mind too much if it breaks or gets snatched after a month or so. and the case will be lighter.
i'm glad i decided against hardshell and a full size guitar.

Yea... Thinking about it more, I realize what a bitch it would be to ride with that thing... I guess I could just get my hands on a cheap-o guitar and just stuff it in my pack. Ack. The thought of leaving it up here is annoying though, being out of the way and all. But It'll be safer here. Thanks guys
 
i just got a soft Roadrunner case for $40 and it's convenient with the backpack straps and all that. im excited to take it.
i know i'll miss my big guitar too.

haha a roadrunner brand soft case, i bought one like tat' from a thrift store, $5, its black, had a cheap guitar strap in it has a handle, outter pocket ond' backpack straps, it's what i'm planning on using, i'm kinda new to the train hoppin thing but i figure i wouldn't last long anywhere without my music and i can't see lugging my ancient hardcase around
so i guess i also would advise a softcase with straps when engaging in "physical" activities, due tae the fact it offers more mobility
just my opinion though
 
the thrift stores here are shit and have nothing music related so i didnt mind forkin' over the cash for it.
 
I made a case out of cardboard! it's double thick and is pretty dang sturdy. it's held together with hot glue and water proofed with duct tape. i haven't hopped out with it, but i've hitched plenty with it and it's holding quite well.
 
Maybe get some thin plywood and reinforce a soft backpack case?
That way you get the small size/light weight and you won't have to worry as much about cracks.
 
i was wondering about this too. ive got a cheap guitar but it means a lot to me and a soft case with shoulder straps. i figure its no big if you dont catch out on moving trains.

you oughta be aight on the fly ive hopt with pretty fragile glass,eggs,waterbladders and other assorted things and theyve all been aight just make sure you stagger every1 25 yards apart on the onsetor youll knock into eachothers shit
