Hey y'all, stumbled upon this site today while trying to find some useful information on riding freight trains. This summer has been my first experience in hitchhiking. I recently hitchhiked from my hometown of Toledo, Ohio to Hollywood, Florida. Took me 4 days to get down there stayed about a month, and got the free Greyhound ticket back from the cops. I'm hooked. This shit is for me. I live right by the Amtrak station in Toledo (by live, I mean I'm squatting in a vacant house) and I plan on catching out on a freight train in a couple days. I'd like to end up in San Diego, Berkeley, Santa Monica, or Malibu and plan on making stops along the way in Colorado Springs and anyplace else that seems good and has soup kitchens and a nice public library.
I have a condition called Aspergers Syndrome, it's at the higher functioning end of the autism spectrum, and I was born and raised in the ghetto. Most of the people I know here in Toledo are drug addicts, alcoholics, drug dealers, prostitutes, gang members, and the like.
Any advice about riding trains is welcome, from what I've read it can be pretty dangerous and it seems like there's a lot of potential for stuff to go wrong. Oh and one last thing, I don't like cops. Or clowns. Oh and I ate dinner with a fuckin raccoon last night. Not the first time I've eaten dinner with this raccoon, but he somehow found where I was squatting and showed up inside at 4:00 this morning so I ate some Doritos and a bagel with him. I guess I'll be leaving my squat house to him when I go in a couple days. Typical shit in my life, I wouldn't know how to handle normal shit

Yes do read up on the trains info in the train forum and internet. I admin at a dirty kid group on facebook too and just recently saw some pretty horrific pics of a girl's first trip on a train - she stepped on the knuckle just as train lurched forward and back. Her foot is a mess. Do be careful.
