Hello, namaste, dear community,
I'm Frédéric from France.
I was involved full-time in sports until 24yo then into travelling/CouchSurfing for 15 years, lived travelled and worked 10 years around the world, with over 15 years in the travel field.
I have couchsurfed for about 1200 nights in 50 countries, travelled to 70, roughing it and off-the-beaten tracks on most occasions.
This is my favourite platform for consciousness enhancement, human values and altruism. Since 2006, no better platform has been created so far.
I'm curious about the community here, looking forward to get some different insights and inspiration.
PS: when not travelling, I live in the forest by the only natural hot springs valley in France, it's between Perpignan seaside and Andorra mountains/ski.

Curious to see what connections come from our virtual meeting.

So far from me being on this site I met one other member in Taiwan and another who I haven't met joined the Ecotopia bike tour last year. . .

STP is definitely more weighted to the USA but maybe if it continues to stick around that will evolve.

are you referring to the Rennes Les Bain area and surrounding department at the end of your post ? (Aude maybe ?) I spent a lot of time down there in the past, staying with the English vehicle dwelling contingent in Limoux / Quillan / Festes St Andre / Esperanza.... I absolutely love it down there in the French Pyreenean foothills - and am currently wondering why I'm not there now !

Actually not !!

What you describe is Haute-Vallée de l'Aude, the most spiritual part of France, with the Catharism spirit (Catharism - Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catharism). It's a place I love to be during summer time as there are lots of alternative events. Foire Bio de Couiza is the best event to me, it's the organic food celebration summer weekend. Not to forget every Sunday market in Espéraza for sure ! So yeah there are 2 natural hot springs releases there in Rennes-les-Bains, a tiny one in the centre fitting just a few people and working when there is enough flow from the private thermal centre, and another one down the village fitting dozen people at most, with not so hot temperature.

The place I mean is between Perpignan seaside town and Andorra Pas de la Casa, very close to Cerdagne and Prades city. You have a natural hot springs valley over there with many Spaniards hippies coming over the weekends. You have a spot with a natural hot springs terrace where I usually cook eggs, all temperatures available, you have 10 km away down the valley the only hot canyon of Europe with many ponds with different temperatures and some very hot, and a few km down the valley again, you get some ponds in the river bed, and usually rocks need to be moved to get exactly the temperature you prefer cause the cold water stream infiltrates. This is my paradise over there. Let me know if you come around Perpignan and I can show you around .

Hey there Fred! Nice to have you STP is mostly about USA but I’m from Europe so who knows maybe our paths will cross! I’ll keep you in mind I myself am in Germany right now working but I’m quitting next week so we’ll see.
