DAYTONA BEACH – In a disgusting display of totalitarianism, Daytona Police descended upon a group of Good Samaritans who were feeding homeless people.
These repugnant tyrants, have an ordinance which makes it illegal for folks to try and feed the homeless.
Apparently the city wishes to hold a monopoly on charity. According to Police Chief Mike Chitwood, if you want to feed the homeless, you have to do it through their monopoly.
“The ordinance is there, so if we catch you, we’re going to cite you,” Police Chief Mike Chitwood said Thursday. “If you want to feed people, and you want to do a good, Christian act, we encourage you to coordinate with the social service agencies.”
Chico and Debbie Jimenez of Daytona Beach have been feeding the homeless in Manatee Park for a year now.
Their operation was completely funded by private donations and it was growing. Every Wednesday, they fed more than a hundred people.
But now, thanks to the despicable fascists in Daytona, all those poor hungry people will have to beg the state for food.
Below is the video taken from their last meal served.
According to the group’s Facebook page, Chico and Debbie, along with four volunteers, were each given multiple 2nd degree misdemeanor citations.
The fines totaled $373 per person, $2,238 for the group. The police also permanently banned the group from Manatee Island Park. “We both have made a lot of good friends in the park and are devastated that we are banned the Manatee Park forever,” Debbie wrote. “I am heartbroken.”
Daytona Beach is just the latest city to crack down on groups that feed the poor in city parks. Other recent examples range from Birmingham to St. Louis to Raleigh to Philadelphia to Orlando. A 2010 report from the National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty identified more than a dozen other cities with restrictions and found an uptick in the number of new ordinances.
To the cops that enforce such repulsive legislation, how can you sleep at night?
