Not bringing a lot of makeup, probably just eyeliner.

All together, if I pack the bibs and jacket (as opposed to wearing them), it comes in at about 27 lbs plus water and extra snacks.

Probably also a guitar or a uke.

Well, that' s okay I guess, concerning it's a lot of stuff. And I suppose you plan to do some camping in the wilderness, trainhopping and stuff? Then you will need stuff like a tarp and camping gear, yes.

I packed a lot the first times I went travelling but since I always ended up going from one city to the other in a quite densily populated area, I hauled around a lot of stuff (tarp with pegs, rain poncho, few pairs of spare clothes and so on) and never used it.

So later I decided to pack lightweight. Just a few bits and pieces (plasters, torch, phone with charger, small bottle wirh desinfectant, sewing kit and safety pins, duct tape and sharpie, ...) and two sleeping bags (in winter three). That's just it. Perhaps one change of clothing, sometimes not even that.

Pack as lightweight as you can (depending on how you travel of course), your back will thank you. :)
 
Regarding the French pack you’re using - do you know how many liters it is? Thanks.

Thanks. I was looking it up, there were lots of good reciews about it . I’d like to keep the weight down to about what you’re carrying, was hoping it could be done in a smaller sized pack than that, but perhaps not.
