Advice for Canadian planning on spending some time in the US?

Hey guys, I'm tentatively planning on couch surfing with friends in Seattle for a few months if I can't find work in Vancouver BC, (where I'm from) but I don't want to be a freeloader, and was wondering how difficult it would be to find work as a white, middle-class-appearing woman (and more importantly, how likely would getting caught be?)

Secondly - any advice for looking for casual work with no papers?

in my opinion, craigslist will probably be your best bet in the seattle area. @CaptainFinn does a ton of odd jobs in the seattle area, you might try sending her a PM about it.

The only other place I know about for sure is New Orleans seems to be pretty good for under-the-table work.
