    Sleeping bags

I've been looking for a small sleeping bag, and I dont think there is such a thing. I picked up a regular sized bag, my friend said it was the smallest one he'd ever seen, but the thing isnt going to fit in my pack. I figure I'll just strap the thing on there. Is there a preferred method anyone...

    Bed roll

Is it any more difficult to catch rides with a bed roll strapped to your pack? Just seems to make it look like you are carrying so much more and maybe ppl will be less apt to pick you up if you look super loaded down.. Especially if you're traveling with say... Two others and a dog. Yeah? No?

Help picking an extra-tall sleeping bag?

So I've finally had enough of my old sleeping bag and I'm looking to replace it. The only thing making this difficult is finding one that will fit well. I'm 6'3. I obviously need something that I can use all year. I was thinking maybe something with a removable liner and maybe a bivy. Also...

Recommend me a good sleeping bag and backpack

I've been looking into getting a pack and sleeping bag. i'm pretty into surplus stuff, simply because it always seems to be super durable and i'm somewhat rough on backpacks but i don't know shit about sleeping bags. I'd be looking for a bag i could live out of in europe as well(hoping to head...

    Sleeping Pads / Ground Insulation

I just finished patching my pad with all the patches left in the kit, and it still goes flat. Time for a new one. I sleep well on my side, so I naturally stay warmer. Can sleep on just about anything. I like the comfort and warmth of my thermarest, but its heavy and goes flat. It's all ive...

    Modifying Sleeping Bags?

Has anyone tried this before? I have a 0 degree bag that is a bit too big and heavy to be carrying around constantly, and I doubt I'll be voluntarily going to any place where it gets that cold. I want to cut and sew it a bit to make it smaller and lighter. I know that will greatly compromise...

Canvas Vs. Polyester etc. Sleeping Bags

I prefer canvas. I have an old 1944 US Army sleeping bag. It's got an outside waterproof bag and a detachable lining. Dries pretty fast if it gets wet. Pretty warm as well. It is a tint tad bit heavier than my modern polyester one. What do you girls and guys prefer?

    Sleeping bag question!

So, I've never had a good sleeping bag. They've always come from thrift shops and aren't particularly warm, don't have particularly, what you would call functional zippers and are generally all around crap. I am thinking about changing this, but have a couple questions about those 80-100 dollar...

    Desert sleeping and such

So everywhere i travel to, i always just throw my shit on the ground and sleep in the woods. Never really worried or bothered by wildlife. So early one morning inside of Portlands Lake yd, i was roling a cigarette on my pack. And to my surprise a fucking 6 foot rattle snake struck at me 3...
