I already greeted you in the discord but welcome once again! This is definitely the right place for finding the things you said you want to find. Also I'm totally on the same train (:0) when it comes to having a ukulele but not really knowing it too well yet.
I'm pretty sure general travel-themed/road songs have been discussed before, as have many other topics about music. But I'm wondering - do any of you have specific songs that strongly remind you of specific travel stories or memories?
I'll start - Train Under Water by Bright Eyes reminds me of...
Welcome! I'm in a fairly similar boat to you. Also at college, very disengaged with it, and wanting to do more. You're definitely taking the right steps by joining stp.
Even if it's possible, it doesn't seem worth it unless for international or really long distance flights and even then, not really. It's a huge risk to take for what would probably be an uncomfortable and anxiety-inducing experience.
Haha regardless of terminology I love those. It's so interesting how different they are from the street art styles that I'm used to. Awesome pictures, too. :)
Being hospitable is the only way to go after a lucky day. If the universe is good to you, you gotta share that goodness. You won't last long being greedy. Congrats on your awesome day and thank you for being charitable with your luck!!
I feel like 22 is a great age to headout! Sleeping outside takes some getting used to (haven't done it much myself, yet, but that's what people say) but I think you'll get the hang of it in no time. Much better than the 9-5.
Welcome to STP! If you're looking for a ride, it might be worthwhile to post in the ridesharing portion of the forums, tho idk how likely you are to find a trucker there. Good luck! It's great to have you here.
if you want to make it to the slabs, you should head out soon and make it in time to the jamboree. do it and post your travel stories so i can vicariously live through you
I haven't traveled too much yet but I so know what you're talking about. Every time I've been on the road or arrived at a new destination, especially on impromptu trips, I just feel amazing. Basically feels like all my problems just melting away and knowing that there's so much out there for me...
My friend and I got stuck overnight at the Atlanta greyhound station after our bus got delayed by over 6 hours. Very much not a fun place to be. Especially since both of us were running on about 50 hours of no sleep.
I wanna hear your stories about moments where you just knew that all the troubles and downsides of a nomadic lifestyle were worth it for you. Whether because of amazing views, freedom, community connections, or anything else, share your favorite moments.
I think you should go for it! Obviously be prepared and get at least some supplies and a vague idea of what you're getting yourself into, but don't worry about it too much. I'm sure you'll find you're able to do much more and survive much more than you think you can. Live your daydreams.
Yeah I'm sticking with it for now. One of the reasons college is also not too bad for me actually is that I got really good financial aid so I'm (hopefully?) on track to graduate with minimal to no debt. I'm actually not even a full semester into college yet though.
Thank you for the advice!
Thanks! I'm studying CS.
My main reason for staying at the university is having a backup/something to return to if I have to stop traveling. Plus I'm not yet a citizen (got a greencard) and am worried about any potential legal trouble messing up my ability to stay in the US.
Heyo!
I'm currently a college student but struggling with restlessness and wanting to be on the road.
The initial plan was to graduate college (and become a citizen) and then travel but idk how much longer I can stay in one spot for. I have basically everything I need to leave so now it's just a...
