Anyone ever made your own gear? DIY, modifications, quickfixes?

Willow trees have most of the material you need for a framed wicker pack, but I have seen them hybridized with oil treated leather. As for straps and tie downs hemp is a popular choice. I have resorted to sewing together my own pack out of miscellaneous scrap pieces of fabric and straps. Buy...

    Hello

Hi welcome. Maybe if you could elaborate more on your situation, people could help more clearly. As for giving up your identity, there are plenty of illegal immigrants that will buy your social security card so they can work legitimately. Your idea of getting a van seems like a great way to...

2016 Jamboree What you missed at the 2016 Jamboree

I got kind of close to making it, but I turned around in southwest Arizona on a whim to go to the grand canyon instead. 1300 miles on my motored bicycle was fun no matter the destinations. But i do hope to make it next year. But here is the reason I missed it:

2016 Jamboree My motorized bicycle route to the Jambo

There are actually many states and areas in which being able to quickly detach the engine allows you to not be subject to the laws governing motor driven cycles. An example from motoredbikes.com: A Bicycle with a motor attached (engine shall not exceed 150cc, nor shall the engine exceed 5 brake...

2016 Jamboree My motorized bicycle route to the Jambo

I almost got the dax titan for my front engine @MilkaNoobie still might at some point but these Tanaka engines I have are great for reliability, running for up to 6 hours straight, better than Honda or Subaru's fourstrokes for that, duo engines gives me a chance to alternate their useage or...

2016 Jamboree My motorized bicycle route to the Jambo

This year I am trying a new mode of travel, this 150mpg duo engine motorized bicycle: This is the route I am taking, mostly 25 miles per hour through mountains. If you are transiting this same area in the 3 days preceding or following the event or after maybe I can jump in your van for part...

Good luck sir. I also just found I need some custom machined work done on my motored bike so also may not be going despite planning for a few months and dumping $1000 into it. Hope you make it. I might be doing some bitchhiking if I have to resort to it.

2016 Jamboree Federal Roadside Checkpoints near the Jambo

Based on this map of permanent immigration checkpoints, there looks to be one in Niland. Any tips on precise locations and hot to avoid these on our way to and from the Jambo anyone? I plan on coming in from the east via Ripley and that back road.

    not wearing socks?

This is a quote on rabbit brush from wikipedia that has me severely regretting using it while hiking all around los alamos last year Specimens growing in Bayo Canyon, near Los Alamos, New Mexico, exhibit a concentration of radioactive strontium-90 300,000 times higher than a normal plant. not wearing socks?

Out west i use sage brush up north and rabbit brush down south. In the midwest and east, eastern red cedar seems to inhibit the growth of almost everything but eventually can grow mildew so you want to alternate with other plants

Ive always travels sockless to keep boot rot at bay. You can throw in local aromatic plants to keep the smell down, lots of plants are bacteriostatic too.

Ridiculous. Being human does not grant you some spiritually mandated right to survival at other's expense. I hope this is continued to be dealt with on a case by case basis. What is your guys sketchiest experience on the road?

Heres another scary one. I once stepped into some woods on the south side of Dallas to pee at night. That section of the Trinity River bottoms is no stranger to having dead bodies turn up. Video How to Hitch an Airplane

There are seasonal roads (oct-mar?) requiring thick ice.
