i'm originally from upstate NY, near the Canadian border. I just come down to south Texas during the winter. I planned on heading up to the PNW in march but i'm bored here early (i have spent a lot of time in the area). As for gear, i'm planning on bringing a tarp and rain jacket, gotta pick up...
Is it possible without freezing to death? I was thinking about heading up that way in January from south Texas. I just know from prior experience of being homeless in New England around that time of year that it's pretty damn miserable and to be avoided if possible. i know the PNW doesnt get as...
you'll learn as you go. when i was 18 i found myself back at my parents after 6 months of travel (still not a bad run for a newbie). it pissed me off to be back home but i took some time to reflect and learn from my mistakes and had a much longer and fulfilling run the next time.
Yeah I just went to renew my DL in Texas and they said the same thing. They don't issue regular DLS anymore only real ids. Also I used a fake address 6 years ago and they didn't check it this time they did and found out it was a motel and wouldn't renew my dl ...so I'm looking for a state that...
pissing-as-you-walk down a dark street or alley works for me, or into a bottle behind a dumpster and chucking into the garbage afterwords. (once i pissed into a bottle and left it in my car during a long haul drive and my friend took a blind sip mistaking it for Gatorade)
Story of my life right here. I generally just try to meet people with similar interests or get a job to make some cash and talk to my co workers. I'm an introvert though and don't mind spending a lot of Time alone. But you need human interaction or you'll start talking to yourself haha.
Having pre travel jitters just means you don't suffer from a mental disorder. Human beings are comfort seeking creatures and generally don't want to shake the complacency.
drinking and being homeless or being on the road seem to go hand in hand. its a great open and free lifestyle we live, but its also hard and a lot of people use drinking or drugs to get through the rough nights of sleeping on the ground or not knowing where your next meal is coming from. But if...
Don't bank on free tickets. When you are broke you and have no cash coming in you want certainty. Like I KNOW for sure I can get a meal at such and such a place. Fly a sign and buy a bus ticket greyhound is dirt cheap and I always got a free Burger or whatever from just asking other passengers.
Yeah Mississippi is creepy. Always try to keep moving right on through. The deep south in general isn't for me. Maybe because I'm originally from new york and the second I open my mouth people give me shit for being a Yankee.
That picture of the china town gate..I took the same one haha. That area was my favorite part of LA other than that I felt like I was being sold an image of what people think LA should be.
Port Aransas or north padre island are both good choices. You can sleep in your car or van for free and the police won't Hassel you. Like I said I usually leave around spring break because they will wake you up and ask if you are OK ( making sure you didn't od on drugs or whatever). I spent a...
I always thought this place was a great place to hole up for the winter. Most of the island is available for free camping and north padre has bathrooms and showers you can use for free. Personally I try to bounce before spring break though. Too many frat kids for my taste. Just a suggestion for...
