Thought about this website after a random FaceTime call with my cousin at 2am. I talked to him about wanting to move and start fresh after breaking up with my boyfriend and not being happy with the way things are going for me in this small suburban town (definitely don’t want to say I have it bad because having a roof over my head and food in my belly is a privilege)

I made this account when I was 16 and in love with the idea of being a wandering traveler and taking pictures of my adventures. I believe it was very active at the time as well, not to say it isn’t now but from what I’ve seen there’s just been a few posts this week :/

Don’t know where im going with this but if you made it this far and have advice on what to do/ where to go for a quick job and place to stay im all ears.

Sounds like you are still young enough you could qualify for a working holiday visa, if you feel like getting out of the US altogether for a bit. Bear in mind that if you are trans and you don't have your passport already your new president has made that process supremely degrading. Also bear in mind that pretty much everyone around the rest of the world is pissed at America right now and might hold it against you if you show any kind of patriotic tendencies. But in general i would really recommend taking the chance to working holiday while you are still young enough, because if you want to bum around overseas when you are old, either you gotta work under the table which limits your options, or you gotta work full-time to qualify for a regular migrant visa and that messes up your chance to travel. Check your options: Working holiday visa - Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_holiday_visa

For staying in the US, I guess travel around there is gonna be the same as it ever was, more or less. One of the classic traveler things is to work ski resorts in winter and travel in summer. Another is meandering around doing WWOOF/Workaway/etc and finding seasonal harvest stuff in the summer and fall. Someone on here always swears by chasing natural disasters around since apparently there is lots of work doing cleanup/rebuilding. A lot will depend on the skills and experience you already have or otherwise how good you are at convincing people that you are honest/trustworthy/hardworking/easily exploitable/whatever they are looking for.

Thanks for the advice Ali, I really appreciate it especially during a time like this. The seasonal harvest approach seems the most fitting and interesting, especially since summer is right around the corner. I’ll look into it some more :) hope you had an amazing day yesterday 💕
