names rolly grew up in montana oregon,trying at the moment to return out west from asheville. tired of n.c. wages and crowed southeast.never hoped atrain might have to as it looks now.spent life in western mts. and oregon coast,tillimook. spent life outside the grid and gov. 4 kids 3grandkids.

Spent life outside the grid implies no electricity. I can appreciate that, however, I grew up with it. I think it's definitely something to pursue nowadays. How did you do it being in your 40's now? Solar technology came about pretty strong back in the 90's and even then it was as expensive as hell to buy panels and what not. For that matter, still is.
my uncle a crazy old fool cowboy riged up turbine on the creek for basic power back in the late 60s,now he has solar along with wind. wood heat and big plastic barrels to haul up to the spring twice a wk. for drinking water. maybe twice a month we take runs into deer lodge or missoula for food. isolation drives me crazy at times but hes cool with it. as for being in my 40s,stayed in shape with various means over the years...no smoking hard drugs etc.tho wont kid ya age is telling,last may had to pack out to the hard road cause of the mud and the slopes got a little sporty
