My girlfriends looking for pants preferably somewhat water and wind resistant or just tough good old fashioned jeans. Problem is....she got the baby bearin hips. Any recommendations?

i definitely think this is HER descision.......whatever fits her body and mind best......go get some hard work pants "carrhatts" or do what i find most comfortable...get some really tought durable jeanlike pants, some levi's.....and sew leather onto the knees or whatever other part need reinforcing....the crotch.....or be one of those "buttflap kids" to reduce wear on the ass... look for comfort over durability...pants are EVERYWHERE and it doesnt take a seamstress to patch some shit...

Of course it's her decision I'm not dressing her. I think you missed the whole point. Maybe because you don't have wide hips that you don't understand. Regular pants ride up on her because they are generally straight legged and ride up on her like those super high pants you always see on girls in the 80's movies.

no...i definitely got that part.....i just feel that online STP members aren't the best for deciding what fits her or not......she should just go try things on....different pant makers have different style/shape variables.....i really dont find a forum on this matter extremely helpfull.....i can however tell you that modifying the clothes yourself would bring you closest to personalized gear as you can get.....orrrrrrr just get a set of sturdy bibs and to hell with all this pants talk!!haha

I'm pretty sure he's looking for suggestions on some good pants from a woman who's got the same situation as his girl. :)

I really recommend levis (those are ALWAYS good) or honestly.........as much as I hate to say this..........Hollister jeans hold up pretty amazingly....I've had the same 2 pairs for quite a few years.....I never buy directly from Hollister either but from thrift stores....so theyve already got some wear on them. They're pretty resilient.

why waste the time if someone has already run into this issue and has found some nice fitting pants. A girl with a fulltime job and school really doesnt have the luxury of hitting the thrifts and continuing to try stuff on, and thats even if they carry sturdy pants. There are many people on stp, that being said someone out there is likely to have had the same problem case and and example carlylanea. It's the same as asking about warm sweaters. Some might be too warm for certain individuals or scracthy etc etc but asking on stp is a good way to lead you in some sort of direction if nothing has worked for you so far. Of course personalizing your clothing is the best way to have anything fitted well but again time is not a luxury everybody shares. If i could get a zipper some thread and make pants absolutely from scratch i would and im sure alot of others would as well.

Great! thanks!, I'll start ma search

I'm in the same hip boat. A rather big guy gave me a pair of gnarly dickies that fit my hips perfect but are too baggy everywhere else so I'm just gonna cut them up and resew them so they're a bit more snug.
It's so much easier to force things to fit rather than find things that fit.

i can write up some tailoring directions if you want? make a pants resizing thread....

As soon as I come across a decent needle i can do a pic tutorial. Is there a place for that sort of shit (tutorials) on here? I'm gonna go look cause there should be.

child bearing hips eh? maybe a guess she's close to plus size? I have a problem finding comfortable durable pants that dont look stupid on me because of my odd body shape. If she's a size 10+ here's my tip.

it sounds bad actually getting clothes from an expensive store, wich yes...i do buy expensive clothes now that im housed up. But "Torrid" is a plus size young womens store normally found in malls and they have a huge selection of pants created for women who arent sticks and actually have hips, thighs, and wastes. But dont get me wrong, its not strictly for big girls, like i said above if she's a size 10(average size) or higher this store is like a fucking miracle.

I get black "skinny" jeans by "source of wisdom" from there and Ive never been happier with my pants. they dont chafe, ride up, fall off, or show my ass crack whenever i bend over. and when rolled up work great with boots. They run around $40 wich isnt bad. and you can allways just steal em under some baggy pants because they're tight fit. but im afraid thats the only thing good about that store is the pants. the rest is a fucking joke lol

carhartts, though an awesome brand, are not meant for women with hips. they are meant for men with no shape, therefore dont work with my beer gut, DD tits and long shoulders to crotch+tit space ratio. a pair of bibs makes me look like im trying to stuff way too many things into a duffle bag haha

Ufo's are the best pants for males and females, hands down. They're wind resistant and they dry fast also, they turn into a backpack! They are a little pricey but you can find them a little cheap on ebay.

wow. those are so baggy. they would drive me fucking nuts. plus they dont look like they hold any heat in. they would also be a hazard, catching on fences and trains.

You can get them tighter and shit, or just sew them, and they surprisingly hold in heat really well.
