Hitching 101 loop around WA state peninsula tomorrow, anyone here done this?

Looking for any info on this, starting in olympia, heading to aberdeen and doing a loop, hopefully with a couple days inside the olympic natl. park. Just got back from a trip to asheville, NC and already getting bored sitting around at home.. Adjusting to normal life after traveling the last 4 months is really getting to me.. Just curious about peoples' experiences or cool places/stuff to check out along the way if anyone's done it. ill be posting some pics when I get back. thanks a lot, peace!
 
Olympic Natl. Park. is beautiful! i hitchhiked all the way in from Olympia, i didn't care what entrance my ride took me too, i ended up starting at the Hoh River and hiked for a week to end up at Lake Crescent. The High Divide trail is a must, its amazing and beautiful but defiantly prepare yourself for that incline!!
cool fact: they still don't know how deep Lake Crescent is at most points!
i will always tell anyone that likes hiking and is in washington to do Olympic Natl. Park
 
I'm up by the Olympic Pen as we speak! Incredible area. Natural beauty is overwhelming, and the folks in Washington are very down to earth and friendly to travelers. A kind lady walked up to me at a rest stop and handed me five bucks out of the blue. Wasn't even trying to spange or busk. Just minding my own business and BAM, five whole dollars.
I think you've already got the right idea. You really can't go wrong with the nature trails around here. I'm heading back down to the foothills so I can be with my folks on Christmas, but goddamn I wish I could postpone the holidays, lol. Pot is legal, lots of casinos to get free coffee from, people generally seem to be very nonjudgemental toward poor traveling folk, breathtaking beauty everywhere. You'll love it :)

As for hitch hiking:
I've got my station wagon, so I'm not hitching, but I've heard really good things about hitching through this area from friends of mine. I was temporarily traveling with several hitch hikers for a few weeks. We wound up becoming good friends. Dropped them off in Olympia a couple days ago. They've been in touch, and apparently they managed to make their way all the way down to Portland within only a few nights. Not bad at all, huh?

Yea, and most if not all will let campers/rvs park in their parking lot for free for the night if you need somewhere to rest. just have to sign in at front desk. not sure if they let any car do that, but I don't see why not.

Also, if you are traveling from Forks going east on 101, there is a FREE campground to stay at called Bear Creek campground (or Bear Creek Albin Walgren recreation area). It will be on the right hand side at I think Milepost 206.

hey I saw your post on vagabondreddit....one thing I forgot to mention is some places in the National Forest require you have bear cans to store food. I know that everywhere along the wilderness coast, you are supposed to have them. Not so much of a problem now seeing as its winter, but I'm sure the forest rangers will still hassle you if they see you campin without one ...so just a heads up
 
I have thought about, and planned this trip before, but have never done it. I know in the summer it would probably be a piece of cake. Let us know how it goes, Im interested in the details!
 
Thank you all! that is really good to know, kinda imagined it would be a chill area. yeah casinos are a sweet idea, I ended up getting a players card at one a few months ago and using on penny slots, made $15 and crashed in this old storage trailer in the back parking lot. just finished packing my bag and heading out soon, just gotta pound this hurricane first haha. even though it's pouring rain right now I'm excited to go chill on the coast for a bit, ill be posting some pics when I get back. thanks again everyone, peace!

That too! I didn't even check in and they still didn't bother me. A security guard drove right by me a couple times.
