where would you go if money was no object?

So I was wondering, I have this idea for a YouTube show involving alternative travel for quite a few years now, but right now I'm trying to figure out all the places I could go that would be a part of the show.

So my question for you is, let's say money is no object. You can travel anywhere you want, go to any event, punk show, or interesting place you can think of, but it can only be in the USA. Where would you go? I'm specifically looking for lists of places, since in this hypothetical scenario you could drive/fly to anywhere you want, so if you had unlimited air fare, what would your tour of the USA look like?

My immediate response would be Burning Man (even though it's getting lame from what i hear), ann arbor punk week, maryland deathfest, any bike kill event, best friend's day (might be permanently cancelled by now), a bunch of abandoned stuff, SF/LA/NY anarchist book fairs, folk life festival in seattle, the fest in gainsville, and plan it x fest. I'm sure there's more, that's just all i can think of at the moment.

so yeah, where would you go given the opportunity to go anywhere?

Definitely space would be at the top of my list but since that isn't too realistic yet, probably Thailand for a full moon festival.

Are you concentrating on shows, festivals and events? I'd tour all the parks & forests, and the threads in the Urban Exploration section can provide some pretty cool episodes too.

yeah, this is limited to the USA only. national parks a good idea though. im mostly concentrating on shows, festivals and events, but im also interested in destinations like abandoned stuff, and weird roadside americana shit.

National Parks for sure! Explore abandoned towns and mining places, the Rockies, continue my journey down the Mississippi River, maybe ride on horseback across the plains, the Appalachian Trail, I'd dedicate my life to traveling and exploring every inch of the nation

Backpack New Zealand. Yeah I got sucked in watching Hercules and Xena that was filmed there - but it seems soooo raw there and green and awesome. That's where I would go.

hawaii and europe. i really wanna travel the french countryside some day, and obviously spain. i feel like i could happily spend years in hawaii

I don't think I'd be able to live with myself escaping away to Hawaii or similar exotic destination. I'd see it as running away from my duties on the mainland. In that case, I'd want go to wherever social rupture is occurring to make the notion of a world without money closer to reality. Montreal seems hot right now, but Athens would be my first choice.

outer space, as far away from this place as possible..................................

I would spend a few weeks backpacking in every wilderness designated area in the United States.

My first would be the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness - that place rules.

Or, shit, I would stick around Idaho/Montana - best place in the country in my opinion...

If you're thinking about abandonments and similar stuff, I would go to the tunnel/cave system underneath Saint Paul, MN, the not-finished nuclear power plant near Olympia, WA, abandoned missile silos, abandoned mines in Montana, Colorado, etc., that abandoned castle on an island near NYC, the manufacturing graveyard that is the City of Detroit, the airforce graveyard near Tucson, AZ, THE ENTIRE STATE OF ALASKA - military installations, oh man.

And, the Mitchell Corn Palace, duh!

I know for fact that they have security still there, but if you wanna check out a nuclear power plant that never went online you can check out marble hill in Indiana

The corn palace was the stupidest thing I ever seen and I stay away from tourist traps when I'm hitchhicking spent a week trying to get out of Wall,SD (tourist trap) eventually it was the sheriff that gave me a ride to the truck stop down the road.
