My pack on my recent trip was really small, and i'd recommend that people keep it that way especially if you aren't in decent to good shape.
I had:
Sleeping bag
Single person tent
2 pairs of pants
3 shirts
8 pairs of socks
2 skanks
1 pair Boots
1 vest (not at all needed)
1 Hoodie
Boyscout utensils
Cell phone + charging box(holds 3 charges)
Leatherman
Main EDC knife
Notebook + writing/drawing supplies (duck tape wrapped around pencils)
Nalgene (usually I ended up just carrying my water in a gallon jug)
Toilet paper
Small medkit, including bandages, an antiseptic, an anti-diarrheal, and an antihistamine
In total this comes to between 25 and 30 lbs depending on if I had extra food or cardboard or other things that are used and then disposed of
Honestly if you're packing for summer and you're going to be around civilization this is all you need! Hopefully my pack isn't redundant, but i see a lot of people who pack really heavy, like 60 lbs+ and im really not sure how necessary that is in the summer (i know that pack size is personal and different for people, but it just seems like too much). And even for me some of the things i packed where purely luxury.

My medkit..some of the things in it include compression bandages, antiseptic, hemostat clamp for clamping blood vessels/arterys in case of the worst.. also a tourniquet, rubber gloves..epinephrine shots.. heavy gauze.. burn salve, skin closure kit..all that fits in a small pouch.. I have a few other things in my med bag.
As far as clothes.. lots of GI wool socks and nylon ankle socks.. cargo pants.. a pair of shorts .. cheap nylon shirts stay away from cotton. I free ball it so no undies..a belt or suspenders ..a nice pair of combat boots and my vest.. all of this is black in color and OD green ..

^I would recommend this bag to anyone. It is the bag I first started with, and I still have it, only a little shittier than before after 4 years. It saved my life when my tarp collapsed in the mountains outside Eugene and I was soaked to the bone in sub-freezing weather.
