Time to say hi

Hi lovely people! Thought I might say hi. I know these introductions go a long way on these sorts of sites so I took the bait. Maybe this will make me some friends.

I am about to hit the road again in December and go wander around for a while. First goal is to meet up with my GF and then we will wander together. This will be my second adventure. Last one lasted from August to November and from Kansas to South Carolina, all the way to Cali and back up to Seattle where I am now. Got around with my thumb or on a train and faith in journey. Just getting things straightened out here so I can move. I've been rooted here 5 years, it's time for a different pot.

I am versed in horticulture, mycology and bushcraft. I eat the off the land and in fall get fat on fungal freebies. Summer feeds me more than I can gather. I love staying outdoors or wherever I can, even if its on top a of a burger king. Staying in touch with spirit (not religious) is my highest priority. Meditating and keeping a level head and calm pace will get you through anything. All I want to do is enjoy life right now, in all of its simplicity and stress. If I can help someone along the way, then I feel I have done my job.

Thanks for stopping by :)

I wish I knew more about shrooms - I have a couple of places around me that have a wild abundance. Have fun and stay safe!

I use these sites if I am having a hard time with an identification: http://www.mycokey.com/newMycoKeySite/MycoKeyIdentQuick.html

To really ID a specimen is confusing and difficult if you are not familiar with terminology so I suggest reading up on that too. There are a lot of lookalikes out there and especially with Little brown mushrooms it is hard to identify. I don't know anything about Florida species but I know that it is a stellar spot for them. You are likely to have a lot of variety and more variability than what I am used to.

Here in the PNW, I use David Aroras Mushrooms Demystified. Its a massive book with thousands of species. I don't know if that book is good for your area since we are in different climates. The best thing you can do if you want to learn is get a trustworthy book and go picking. Pick everything you see and spend hours trying to figure them out. It's hard at first but it will make sense pretty quick. I'll be in Florida at some point in the next two months. Maybe we can meet up and wander. Season for blue stainers just ended here. Nice to hear its time to start out where you are.

Sweet definitely useful! I was wandering in some woods after a light rain a week or so ago and found multiple species of mushrooms but had no way to identify them. Sadly I had to discard my samples but this will be useful when I stumble on a place like that again! Thanx! Sounds good keep in touch man let me know when you get out here!

I'll keep you in mind Fox Spirit.

This is my thread from before the newbie genocide server issue. Same name, different shrek.
