Thoughts on florida

What part of Florida are you in? What kind of work do you do?

Florida's a shit hole state that should be left asap, is there any particular reason you'd wanna stick around?

Im not in Florida was thinking about going there ...everyone says irs a shit hole can't be much worse than jndiana

Had a friend who use to live in Dayton Beach Florida U.S.A, they said it was crap. Eventually moved to the other side of the U.S.A.

The rule for Florida is that the further north you are, the further south you actually are. Like southern FL has some fun places and things if you don't mind hordes of retirees but northern Florida is more undeveloped swampland and tweakers. The only place in the north I've ever found worth going to was Jax.

Everywhere costal in FL that isn't already rich is being gentrified (seems like that's everywhere now). So cheap places to live are moreso gonna be inland.
It's definitely going up in price like everywhere else but I really like Tampa and there's still some cheap housing in the ~less savory~ neighborhoods.

Summers there are brutal. Winters are amazing if u don't specifically like the cold.

There's tons of work to be found in retail, hotels, and restaurants bc wtf else are retirees gonna do besides go out n spend money all day? Also medical bc they're all old and deteriorating. And landscaping.

Like blank said, north n south culture is pretty reversed. North FL seems much less racially diverse than South is. There's hella Hispanic people in Miami and Okeechobee.

Honestly tho, visiting FL is pretty rad (if ur not black or needing to hitchhike) and living there fucking blows.
It's hot as all fuck for 9 months of the year and humid af for prob 360 days of the year. Mosquitoes. There are tons of rich old white people near all the beaches. Mostly republican. Not queer/trans friendly outside of a few cities. Not much diversity in mindsets. It can be a really fuckin stagnant place.

But it's beautiful and the ecosystem is so diverse. So many lizards and bugs and frogs and spiders and squirrels and birds!! Lots of diversity in plants too. Marshlands, forests, beaches, rivers and lagoons. Sunshine almost all the time.

Idk, just really high and rambling now.

I agree with most of this. I just wintered in FL for the first time. It was alright. I only got to know the east coast, though.
For some reptilian butt fiend reason, I am still here now. The swamp ass is real.
Jax is rad. Trump loves it here. Mosquitos are an Illuminati invention designed to spread apathy. Dollar General is easy to steal from and has epic dumpsters. I french kissed your grandma.

Any advice on florida for a newbie?easy going towns?work?cheap places to my e?ect....ect...
I moved from San Francisco to Jacksonville two months ago. I came for the art scene, it’s just heating up and the city wants to expand its footprint in this area. I read and hear from people that it’s a shit hole, I say otherwise....I love the heat...so over the cold in N. Cali. Not sure what you wanna get I to but there’s work aplenty. I chose the homeless route and I found that there are countless services for you. The people that have problems are usually doing drugs and crime. Personally: I’ve done the art walk twice, the Riverside Art Market and have been invited to join a group show at Rain Dogs in Five Points, and offered two large mural projects...point being...you get what you seek. If you come here with a positive attitude and a plan, you’ll get there. I’ve discovered that people are genuinely kind hearted here and give. I say...cruise on down to your desired destination and fulfill your destiny 👍🏾

In addition: The Black thing...utter bullshit...you are treated the way you comport yourself...you act ******, you get treated that way, etc. If you slide into Jacksonville, especially if ya gonna bum it, I’d be happy to show you what’s available to support you.

I'm pretty sure I've written about this subject on STP before but Florida's fucking dope, dude! If you're thinking about going, if you think you might like it, just go because you probably will. Obviously there's shit parts but there's also parts that are beautiful and amazing too. I lived and traveled around FL for years after moving there pretty much on a whim and I had a rad ass time just about everywhere I went. I ended up staying for seven fucking years!
Cool spots to check out:
Pensacola, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Gainesville are all pretty rad (especially the last two). Ybor City in Tampa, and down south you have the Everglades and eventually way down there's the Keys. I would personally avoid Orlando like the plague unless you want to go to like the Wizarding World of Harry Potter or Springfield USA at Universal or something.
All those other places are cool though and totally worth seeing but if you're going to be in Florida at all then you gotta go to fucking Miami. I've lived in and been to a lot of places in my life, but Miami is a whole different animal. It's fucking wild in the best way possible.
I came across this video randomly this week and it belongs on this thread. It is the best conversation about/description of Miami and Florida I have ever heard in my life.

So, an entire city of selfish coked out assholes, a place where rich white men walk between raindrops(per this video) Yeah.. sounds fuckin cool bro!

Careful with those JRE plugs, you're gonna summons STP user voted "Friendliest Mod" @SlankyLanky I think if you say JRE three times he appears, never pretty.

I've voiced my opinion on florida so many times it's starting to feel like even the mere mention of it gives me erectile dysfunction and a booty rash.

@Engineer J Lupo But that jre clip is pretty much what I expected from a jre clip about florida. Although I think Joey Diaz has a better clip about florida, something about mouth hugs and cocaine iirc.

I'mma give you a hug if I ever see ya in person.

[Edit] Originally said mouth hug but then I googled it and realized it's a blowie. I love my boy but I don't think I'm ready for that one. Idk what else I thought it would have meant. Let's start with a hug.
