About a year ago I hitched into Bellingham, WA on the same day two tall ships docked and opened for tours. After a wide-eyed, tongue-tied walk around the deck, I asked how one becomes a crew member.
"Just volunteer!"
I signed up for a two week volunteer program which lasted 7 months, sailing from the Canadian border to the Mexican border and back to the bay area. After that I was hooked. I went home to MN in time for a tall ship festival, sailed with one of the boats there, then signed on to a boat based in Milwaukee, and here I am... Enjoy!

I love your signature. I've gotten hit by a rogue wave while on a 92-foot stern trawler, and, yes, the sea fucking wants to eat people alive. it's like the prodigal vagina with teeth. Tallships are definitely in my future.
Have you run into the inland seas (traverse city MI) yet? or her sister boat. my friends used to work as cooks on her.

So, it's been about a year since I posted this...Life has been amazing! I sailed in the Bahamas for a couple of months before picking up a job on the HMS Bounty, sailing from Puerto Rico to Nova Scotia and am soon headed to Cali for a winter sailing job. Pics and stories soon!!!
