Just remember, your never really stuck anywhere.

So If that train doesn't come, or no one stops to pick you up, or your Craigslist ride falls through, etc.
You always have your feet. Start kickin' rocks. You'll get somewhere eventually and there is a good chance that someone will pick up up eventually.

IF its cold or wet or hot. Prepare accordingly.

If its cold you'll probably bundle up and then after a mile or so you won't be cold anymore and you'll actually be peeling off layers really soon.

If its wet, find some heavy trash bags and make a poncho and a back cover. I'm sure there is a thread on here somewhere about how to do so...

If its hot....better have a jug of water so you don't dehydrate....

other than that it is easy...put on foot in front of the other, repeat.

Humans have been walking for thousands and thousands of years and our ancestors have crossed continents on their feet.

You go much slower yes, but it allows you to take in the world around you. I always look at long hikes as a form of meditation.

actually, i think all this is pretty obvious / commen sense stuff. but maybe thats cuase ive been on the road for more than a few years.

The beauty is in the simplicity, something we have as a whole lost in this ultra distracting digital age. Its all to easy to forget how simple things can be when you clear out the bullshit. We survived centuries without cars. trains and craigslist, so its nice to see it laid out in easy to grasp terms.

Yes, definitely took my own advice here recently. Hiked most of the way from Corpus Christi, TX to San Marcos. Got picked up thrice, but I walked most of it. Took 4 days about

Sounds like central USA is more filled than the prairies up here in Canada. I'm not to sure about my ancestors as you call them, I think they had horses and canoes. Please, don't get overly poetic. You would have to be retarded to appreciate the beauty of the prairies from one side to the other.

In québec, there's a bunch of drunken lumberjacks riding a flying canoe witch is way more practical than anything else. You can see it on the beer La maudite, that will explains you how my ancestor traveled across the country, not by walking as you pointed. Talking about simplicity, Vixious?

Walking with a poncho straight out of the trash won't get you picked a lot of the times, but a walking garbage can will sure get attention, and than, a police might give you a ride. But than, it's not rare to see black bear on the side of the road in the north, like in the USA, they just love scavenging trash bin. When you mix prey drive and a fleeing garbage, sounds like a cool youtube video.

Have you WALK your talk? Now please, go buy a 6 pack, and travel the world.

What the fuck is wrong with you?
