true i forget about the goodparts of NC since im stuck out on the other side od Raleigh, theres no tramps around, a few home bums, not much around really. im fucking bored.

boone is cool, look for a guy, Josh, he goes by. oldskool hangs out on king street. maybe 4 or 5 dreads. anything you need to know, he can help you out.

asheville was great but i olny passed through and didnt get a chance to meet that many people. but they shut down a couple of streets every couple weeks for music and art, bartering and such.

If you're in Raleigh, go to a collective called The ACRe house. It's a bike workshop and anarchist infoshop, and I think they have a few people living there.

One of them is a girl named Sarah, who used to go by the name Oaksey. If you run into her, she's good people and can hook you up. We travelled together for a short while. And ACRe is a rad place to hang out.

carrboro/chapel hill is an incredible little city, it seems like radical culture is integrated into most parts of the community. ive traveled through twice and their welcoming of travelers. and the community is very localized and small, nothing like a large city, more like a college town. free buses, free food every day of the week, monthly really really free markets, the internationalist booksInternationalist Books - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and the cat's cradle.

asheville is incredible too but i was sick most of the time i was there.

raleigh and greensboro are also nice but they're pretty damn big.

greensboro is a bitch. nice place, but ive lived in nc all my life and everytime i go to gso the cops are all way assholes about every fucking thing. same with kernersville, its just bad vibes from both those places..

Raleigh kids don't know what they speak of. Durham gets a bad rap and its only a small part of the city that is bad. Its actually a whole damn county with lots of semi-rural areas. I live downtown and ride my bike around at night all the time. There are places I avoid just like if I was in Baltimore or some other city.

Raleigh is a cool town. Both yards are pretty easy to catch out of, though you have to be patient. In my three years of living here the RPD has always been way cooler than other police departments I've run into. Also there are a lot of things going on in the downtown area that are usually free, like free concerts with decent bands and the first friday art gallery walks.

I know. I've never really had a problem with Durham. I haven't been there in years, but is the 305 South still around on Mangum St.? That was a pretty cool venue and "anti-mall".

it really is a great state and you should go if you have never been. i am to connected to KY to live anywhere else but i have always like to visit north carolina.

I live at Acre. We like it when folks come through and theres a few squats nearby we could set folks up in as well. We're always around upstairs. (somebody is) and we have a few rooms open is anyone WANTS TO MOVE HERE. hint fuckin hint. 822 chamberlain st raleigh NC 20607... The other address is in the back of your slingshot under southeast infoshops.

I'm a Raleigh kid and I LIKE Durham. BCHQ makes it all worthwhile. Its all better than Charlotte. Compared to most cities theres hardly any crime. Its fun to go into town and do beer runs and such then leave and go to parties in raleigh or chapel hill. :o

i'm originally from Durham and haven't been back in about 4 years... i've heard a lot about my home town recently and it makes me ache to return! So with that being said... i'll be back in September for 3 days and if anyone wants to meet up please get in touch! I can take the bus to Raleigh and Chapel Hill. It's my moms 50th birthday that is why i'm going to be there, so i'm staying with my sister.

Man. I loved NC. Especially hanging out with some old buddies of mine that are attending the Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa. Seriously, that place is traveling kid heaven.

This is my first post but just had to say something. I am a native Tarheel. Right now prepping for my newest road trip in Wilmington. Man, ya'll have to come to this state. Best beaches, and the most beautiful mountains.

To the dude moving to Fayettville, you are not going to like it. Bad vibes, hard to hitch, dangerous place, nuff said.

Chapel Hill/Carborro is fantatstic. Ten plus on any scale. Don't miss Lake jordan. Bring a hook.

Raleigh has the best free health care. But it is hard to get around in. Stay out of Cary unless you have business. They don't like any one that looks out of place. The cops shoot first, check second. Best dumpster diving:)

Asheboro and area west and south of there is the Uharrie Mountain region. Oldest mountains in US. Been worn down to hills. Great camping. Uharrieman is my alternate road name.

Charlotte sucks.

Walk through the mountains, on back roads. Good folks, if you don't spook 'um.

Bus travel is free in down town Asheville. Lot of eco villages and alternative living communities in the general area. Check 'em out.

Peace
