Hi guys!
So happy to find this online community of travelers! I am currently WWOOFing in Ohio and plan to hit the road shortly to wwoof along the west coast living in my car along the way. I found this group based on my google search, "can't relate to family anymore." Stumbling upon this site not only answered that question but reading relatable responses fed my soul. There's something about us drifters one either understands or they do not. Hard to put it into words but you all have done such a great job capturing it! Thank you

Welcome to StP! May I ask how you sustain yourself, like buying gas and food while wwoofing?

Welcome to the crew! What part of Ohio, if you don't mind me asking? I grew up near Mansfield about halfway between Columbus and Cleveland, moved to Columbus while in high school, then after the army I spent a couple years near Toledo. I didn't know there were wwoofing opportunities in that state!

Yes !
So I have a sizeable savings as an emergency fund that I could easily live off of for 6months just in case.
I also have a high yield account that I can take from anytime with no fee.
Next I have three forms of income that I switch between depending on what's available. I am a freelance model, I do astrology readings , and I deliver for Amazon flex or food courier services like Postmates door dash etc. When I need money.
I go through periods of "stacking" and spending while always maintaining that 6 month emergency fund.
I also see myself work camping in the future, or doing random nomad jobs like the sugarbeet harvest in South Dakota every year. But this has worked out this far. I keep my expenses very low, I can live very comfortably on $400 a month

I've also picked up a few "regular jobs" along the way. Hotel front desk, Starbucks, etc. Just gotta finagle the address part of the application a bit lol . The funny thing is that once I got it there I realized all the planning in the world really doesn't matter it comes down to if you are a motivated individual when you need money, you will get it.

Grrl hustle! Welcome to STP, it's a great community. Also I can absolutely relate to what you're saying. I live in my van and have held down several full time jobs as well as working festival season in the summers etc, to maintain a decent amount of savings. I know a lot of people here like the whole penniless lifestyle, but you do what makes you feel safe and able to relax and enjoy life. Have fun along the way and I can't wait to hear more about your travels!
