India ferries?

Just wondering: Does anybody know if you can catch transoceanic ferries at any Indian ports? Wanting to sail from the West coast to Europe. Or even to frikkin the middle east, N Africa, or Turkey I dont give a phuq as long as i dont have to fly or cross Pak.

I remember reading somewhere, probably Thorntree, it's possible to get an irregular boat from Mumbai to Muscat, but that wouldn't do you any good as you couldn't get anywhere without flying after that.

Yeah, you'd be stuck in Oman if you went to Muscat. I met a german girl recently in Yangon, cycling across Europe and Asia. she was heading back to India and she was planning on trying to catch a boat out of Mumbai i believe, to somewhere in Africa, to continue cycling. Whereabouts in India are you?
