Hello from Denver.

Whats up. Recently started traveling. Started in New Orleans, landed in Denver. Travelled with a "friend" of mine who stole my van and all of my gear. Looking to meet some cool people and learn the ropes. Planning to head to SoCal for the winter. I've read most of the guides on this site. I am in the process of gathering new gear and what not. Look forward to meeting cool peeps.
 
Welcome to STP! In the last month - on another site I've read about 3 people being robbed of their gear and dogs. wth.

As for gear, you will probably find you are in a continual state of replacing, repairing or trading spare items.

When I think about all the times I've replaced gear and the difficulty involved, it reminds me of how easy it was for Mark Twain to quit smoking:

There's always going to be some person who you meet who can't even go home because they steal shit from their family. This is the most foul type of traveler. Given two minutes of inattention, your gear is their gear. Protect yourself.

I'd rather them steal my van than dog. I don't know what I'd do if they stole my dog..
 
That's horrible.. It's good to see you still wanting to get out there and not hold back due to that. Welcome to StP though!
 
Thanks! I'm excited to join a community with common interests and lifestyles. I'm actually heading to Houston this afternoon, but will come back to Denver most definitely!!!!!
