Hi, I go by LilacPrints on here. I'm currently going on a "no safety net" hitchking journey west from Georgia. I plan on train hopping, hitch hiking, walking along and meeting new people. I'm no stranger to this, having done this before about 8 or 9 years ago. That time motivated me to be a better human being, and now I'm going on another journey across the U.S.

It will be tough, lengthy, and rewarding. I am prepared to set out tomorrow morning. Hopefully will set up some couch surfing and volunteering along the way. Nice to meet yall :)

Hello, I am completely new to this hitchhiking but I would like to try in the post-Russian countries, or some old Yugoslavian ones, with some of my friends.

Do you have any advice on what to take and the planning of it all?

Know where the e brake is. Never leave your shit in the car if you stop. Expect hassle from the police. Carry less. Take a dog. Know the road way soliciting laws... I started hitching in 2014 and found trains around 2016. Have hitched recently and had good experiences... Risky though, too many variables.
