Crossing into Canada

Has anyone out there RECENTLY crossed the border between Blaine, WA and Douglas, BC? I've got some past charges that lead me to believe that I may be denied entry to Canada. Do they actually run a background check on you? Is it the kind of border that you could stoll through without stopping at immigration? Should I try to cross in the woods somewhere? Wait till the Canadian migration office closes at 7pm? Or should I just forget about checking out Vancouver? Any advice, hearsay, dirty jokkes, whatever would be much appreciated.

migration office doesnt close at 7pm. if you look like a crust lord or a hippie they probably arent going to let you in. they dont need a reason to not. carry a lot of cash with you and put on a turtleneck and slacks.

id say go through the woods, then again when I cross borders there are no checkpoints or permits.
But if you sure the police wont even look at you while your in canada, you can try
