Almost a boat tramp!

I have spent the majority of my life riding trains, hitching and rubber tramping cross country, Now I finally aquired a boat.

I will be launching my 40ft cutter this spring, hoping to find other dirty crusty travellers and perhaps form a flotilla of sorts.

Ahoi !! I personally dont do faceborg. For others who are like me in regards to FB where is the boat? Your profile says North Dakota? Im hoping your boat is located some where near an ocean & not inland? Do you have any sailing experience? Blue Water? Are you seeking people to help you fix up & rig up your "cutter" in exchange for traveling around on her? Or just looking for others with boats to form your Dirty Kid Armada?

I think @creature is interested in some blue water sailing & was thinking of buying a boat. Who know maybe him or others from STP would be down to rig up & provision your boat with you to be part of. I haven't heard from him in some months & last heard he was trying to earn cash while doing different construction gigs out west<

I'm looking for a 30'-38' sailboat to live aboard. It would be cool to travel with others. Let's see where this goes.........
 
Feel free to pm me any rigging questions if needed i live on a 36ft cutter. Highly recomend getting a large cqr type anchor ie 35 pounds to 50 the hinge alone will save your ass in a storm when the wind direction shifts in some cases its as good as a mooring

Right on! I'll take any advice I can get. I'm not getting much love from my folks about living on a boat. Negative nancis trying to talk me out of it. Every little bit of dialog helps.

I have a rigging question
How difficult is it to convert a sail boat to a single handed sailboat. Where all the lines meet in the cockpit. Also is self steering setup super expensive?

I'm no expert on rigging but I know that for single handed sailing you want a boat that has roller furling. With it you can roll the sails up from the cockpit without having to leave the tiller and man handle them. Also, self steering is good in light winds, but not strong enough in heavy weather. I'm not sure what it costs though.
