wrap copper wire or copper tape around the base of the plant.
this acts as a fence, once the slugs touch the copper they are instantly deterred away.
i swear by this method!
i tend to sleep in my underwear and no shirt on,
i get uncomfortable when temps are around 75F at night (fully zipped)
its just to dam clamy... but id much rather be hot and sweaty than getting eaten alive!
sometimes ill have it zipped half way down and ill put my fleece over my torso and wear...
i use the Thermolite Fleece Reactor Liner with
the current USMC Bivy
i also use a Therm-a-rest Z Lite sleeping pad

i can go down to about 60F stand alone w/bivy (i like too sleep in my underwear with no shirt)
i can go down to about 45F with merina wool...
