Featured Stupid things the cops have said to you?

I can answer that. I only have my passport as ID. Depending the area and state I have had reactions from nothing unusual to "what is this?/do you have any other ID?" Once in Tennessee a pig asked me, when he ran my passport, why nothing was coming up. I told him he should know as it's his...

I take great offense to you tossing around that she has BPD. A great friend of mine who was diagnosed with it and the only time she would get violent is if she has to, by which point I'm already at the helm. However even if this woman does have it, it's no reason to toss it around like this is...

Right to travel law (no license or papers)

There is no law saying you even have to talk to a cop. If you aren't doing anything illegal, or they haven't caught you doing it, you don't even have to acknowledge them. I've done this many times and never got in trouble in many states. Keep in mind this is on foot.

Always remember that you're a cutie

I'm in Idaho and it's hell. I mean the weather but the state is too. Nice people but too easy to get into trouble here. The cost of trying to legislate morality. Anyway, welcome.

Get a shemagh. Not only will it keep you warm, or at least your head, but it's also a multiuse tool with not even a great amount of imagination. Worst State to Hitch Through?

It's legal, I believe, to hitch there. I walked the interstate there once going out of Evanston. Notes: the city is nice but sucks for hitching. Don't walk the interstate unless you are prepared for a TREK!

    Motorized biking

We planned to have it now, she can't get a licence at the moment, and we wanted to take it with us on the road. We won't go down trails or anything, at least not while going somewhere. Once we camp at a place then maybe. We would love to have a recumbent bike but right now we can't.

The folding bike part would only be for if we needed it, otherwise I would rather have the mountain bike. I suppose this would be better for state travel but not full road. I feel like something could be fashioned however somehow.

Getting money on the road, do ethics matter?

Michael: Nope. If someone wants to help they can ask if I need it and if so, they should ask how. Otherwise they are making it about them. For all they know I can have a life-threatening allergy. Just because I am poor doesn't mean I have to take someone's scraps, especially if don't need them.

Getting money on the road, do ethics matter?

I will steal from a big box store but never from a small or regional chain. I don't deal drugs nor do I just take what someone gives me if I don't need it or won't use it (I'm a vegan so food is one area). I definitely refuse sex offers of any kind. Beyond that I can't think of anything else off...

We definitely plan on using them for a good minute before hitting the road. Maybe ride them around the area for several days, then make a day of riding them to and from Boise. We want to be able to know it all very well before we get comfortable.

    Motorized biking

From what I've read and was told here in Nampa (where it seems motorized bikes are popular) I can get about 40 miles on a dollar fill-up and 30 mph. My optimum choice would be to do it with a collapsible bike so we could hitch or ride depending on our circumstances. At the moment however we are...

So my friend and I are debating hitting the road with motorized bikes (mountain ones). Does anyone have a lot of experience with this? Hello from Michigan!

If you are really THAT worried then hitch, but carry a working cell phone with you. Before you get into the vehicle take a picture of the car complete with license plate and send it to someone you know in case something happens. Really hitching isn't that dangerous. Just use common sense and...

How to keep safe as women when squatting/tenting out?

I second that. There are towns in which I know I may die because it's night time and I am black (Anderson, CA). Overall I would say any place you can sleep at should be good. I personally try to hit a town before nightfall, check the area for spots, then make mental notes. If you can't then...
