    anarchism~capitalism~the Spectacle~Ferguson MO~Michael Brown~riots~and now a word from our sponsor

agreed, cosign that. Protesters are reacting inside an area that is fenced off within their consciousness. Working people can have big ideas but it's difficult to organize any group of people who have been conditioned to think that political discourse is reserved for effeminate intellectual...

wow, sounds like an opportunity to learn a lot re: subsistence living! I envy anyone who is smart enough to take you up on this offer. "You need to be tough as nails" <------ HA! Now THAT'S an understatement!!!!

what do you mean, Odin? I think I understand what you're getting at but I'm not sure and fuck yeah Travis Bickle! That picture is the perfect embodiment of what I consider to be the only sane response to the spectacle! He is ENJOYING the show despite the fact that he is disgusted. In that...

    anarchism~capitalism~the Spectacle~Ferguson MO~Michael Brown~riots~and now a word from our sponsor

the undeniable genius of capitalism is the ability to exercise total and complete control of human thought and emotion through the hypnotizing power of the Spectacle. "The spectacle is not a collection of images, but a social relation among people, mediated by images." -Guy DeBord...

Whiskey drunk and ranting from the heart

I'm holding off on all of that love business until I know myself better.... or at least that's what I tell myself so that I don't feel so lonely. (Someday, I'll love.... something) but lately, when I try to meet myself it turns out that I am introducing Joshua to Joshua- essentially the same...

    Alcoholics Anonymous

as an organization, AA/NA frustrates the hell out of me because- 1). it claims a monopoly on helping addicts, and 2). it refuses to grow and adapt new ideas/strategies/concepts. AA/NA is a stale and tired institution. It's about time to do away with those "traditions" that the AA/NA acolytes...

wow! What an extraordinary life and incredible journey! I have so many questions..... how did this all begin? (this life of rafting down the Amazon) Did you visit Brazil and fall in love with her and then decide to justdoit? And the rafting; was this a hobby of yours prior to arriving in Brazil?

    Any advice for fall/October camping?

Yes, I am so glad that you asked this! This is an area in which I have experience. When does it start snowing in Thunder Bay? I find winter camping to be much easier when there is snow on the ground, and preferably a decent amount. Snow is the best insulator you can pack it around the bottom...

    Wild water sources

I like the Katadyn 'MyBottle' - very similar to that LifeStraw bleach works.... but from what I gather it should be used only in a last resort/survival sort of situation! Aquamira drops are better for your health

Young and completely new to life on the road

If I was in your shoes.... I would forget the idea of learning how to ride trains in "the states" and instead I would come to Alaska. This is where I learned to ride trains and it is my home now. I believe that the way the railroad system is setup in AK makes it conducive to learning. I can go...

"Why I Bought A House In Detroit For $500?"

Idk, I met a guy who ended up in jail (I was there too, but NOT for same thing) because he was smuggling Chinese people across the River in some sort of homemade submarine contraption. He got in pretty big trouble. This was post 9/11 border times. Before those times there would have been no...

"Why I Bought A House In Detroit For $500?"

I wouldn't buy a house there.... but I understand the lure of a price so low. (even if you buy a house for a dollar, you will pay more than 2 grand in taxes just to get the deed)

I want to hear about your psychedelic experiences

once upon a time, myself and a good friend of mine took a dose of shrooms and ecstasy. Towards the onset of the peak, around sunrise, we rode a two man bicycle around town whilst frantically yelling "the world.... is coming to an END!" and other such nonsense at stunned and confused onlookers...
