Keeping Warm, Warming/Insulation for squats in the winter

Hit a MEC (or similar shop) up and get one of those reflective emergency blankets/bivvies. They also have them in emergency kits for cars sometimes at Walmart or whatever and are pretty small and easy to pocket from either way. Use it over your sleeping bag along with whatever mattress/cuddle...

WTF is wrong with this stick'n'poke tattoo?

Hey folks, I'm wondering if anyone may be able to troubleshoot something that's happening with a tattoo I just started giving this kid today. I've done them fucking hundreds of times before with no problem... and I've never seen something like this? I tried taking a photo, but the quality's...

Fuck this is brilliant. I kinda hate Mickey Mouse with a passion... I'm glad to see Chip'n'Dale taking back their place.

    Vasectomies?

I'm all for a Sterilized Peoples party. The hysto was one of the best moves I ever made, though it took a fair bit longer to heal then this would have. Ahhh gender fail.

Rock For Choice Calgary - This Bike is a Pipebomb headlining!

Hey all ya'all. Just figured I'd pass the word along for a few friends of mine back home that Calgary's 2009 Rock for Choice is being held on September 12. Headlining act is This Bike is a Pipebomb, with guests Straight Edge Al, The Martyr Index, The Throwaways, and a couple more bands still...

    sticknpokes

Depending on what type of jailhouse gun style you're talking, I've tried a few out, though, if I'm using a gun, I'd much rather track down someone who has a pro-made one. I like being able to have different line thickness. Though I still love a good stick'n'poke.

Word to that. Thanks for the suggestions folks, I'll keep ya posted if I find a working one that's travel sized.

    The Jingles

I've got a turtle light (tiny little LED light doohicky) my fork, knife, and spoon set, and a multitool with a sharper knife, pliers, a can opener, bottle opener and some screwdrivers on it.

Has anyone bike toured the desert?

Might be an idea to ride evening/night into the early morning and stop through the day to hole up. Tonnes of water, salty things, and, as stupid as it may sound, one of those reflective emergency blankets may help. Went into shock when I was touring in a particularly hot/dry area a couple...

    places to stash your gear?

The lockers at hostels (HI mostly) that I've been to are dirt cheep or free if you bring your own lock at times. May be a good place if you're really paranoid about it.

Fresh, Free, Organic Veg - CSA Workshares

Hey hey folks! Now, for those of ya'all who're in a position similar to mine where you've found a place to shack up for a few months, but don't have any freaking money, one of the sweetest things I've landed on in a long time is the CSA Workshare. Community Supported Agriculture seems to...

    Looking for a Washboard

That I could possibly pack with me. There's a smallish long pouch I have sewn into my bag that I usually keep my knife and some cardboard in (the shit comes in handy sometimes when you're stuck in the middle of no where) that I think I could probably fit a smallish one into. Any suggestions...

One thing I'm considering myself, for certain activities where getting hit in the face is far more likely than not, once, yanno, I find the cash, is ordering a pair of military goggles that are prescription ready, sorta like these bad boys Revision - Desert Locust - HeavyGlare.com but I'm sure I...

    Circle "A" Collective/ Farmer's Markets

Personally, I agree that, until we can manage to build something better, the need for monies for rent etc is something that we're stuck with and I personally'd rather work with a collective and for myself producing things than work to make some scumfuck who calls himself a manager rich for my...

Tell CN Rail to drop their racist lawsuit against the Mohawk Nation.

Definitely. I'm attempting to organize some type of action in Calgary surrounding the CN Shareholder's meeting, but, with it being at 9 a.m., a lot of the stationary punks I'd draw on are either in classes or working some shitty job or another at that time. Kind of short notice, but I really...

Tell CN Rail to drop their racist lawsuit against the Mohawk Nation.

So, appologies for just posting up this email out rather than condensing it a little. Figured ya folks might be interested in the issue and possibly down with signing some petitions (little good that petitions may do, but I figure any action we could take might be helpful). Tell CN Rail...

My bicycle ride to the Arctic Ocean

Nice stuff mate. The water at Fox alone sounds like it was worth it. I've always wanted to take a northern bike tour. Think it'd be nice to get out onto the roadways (that they're constantly working on in some places because of the way the ground heaves and buckles up there) where there aren't...

    Calgary Anarchist Bookfair 2009

It's close. But, if you need a place to sleep while you're in town and are down with it, there's billeting going on for the book fair at some of the houses here in town. Wish I could offer to put you up, but my house is gone at the end of the month and my housemates aren't down with billeting...

Thanks for the warm welcome folks. I'm definitely checking the Waystation thread, thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, my punk house is folding up and packing off at the end of April when I hit the road and my housemates are looking for their own places. My mate who I'm traveling with has a...

    Favorite hitching sign

Possibly the sketchiest, but also one of the funniest signs I've ever used was with a partner coming back Edmonton last summer from Pride. "TAKE US HOME WITH YOU! TO CALGARY!" Worked like a charm, but, rather than being picked up by super hot queers we got landed with a middle aged...
