    Brass Knuckle Gloves

This is illegal in most states. Most weapons laws include statues about things called a "cestus." Thats what this is.

    knitting/crocheting with paracord

400 feet of paracord sounds awful expensive! Here's something else you can do with paracord: Slinging.org Forum - Build-along for the 5-strand woven paracord sling.

    Fire Bucket Stove System

http://www.jwbasecamp.com/Articles/Fire-Bucket/The%20Fire%20Bucket%20Stove%20System.pdf I remember seeing some posts about alcohol stoves on here a while ago. Here's something that talks about ways to make a windscreen for them that doubles as a woodstove.

warm ideas for sleeping in winter.

Ray Jardine talks about how you will stay warmer by not sleeping with a lot of clothes on here: Ray-Way Quilt Kits by Ray and Jenny Jardine. Of course, if you haven't got a warm enough sleeping bag to begin with, it won't work.

    Gree(n)sboro

Jeff and I would play this game at that big abandoned thing down at the yard (next to the paint factory) where we'd see how far into the building we could get before the alarm went off. We didn't do much while we were in town but read and yell at the people having sex in the arboreum, though.

    "Yuppie Packs"

A lot of higher end "frameless" packs are meant to use a sleeping pad to "frame" it.

    fixed gear bike conversion

While you may not skid on the track, you still apply back pressure. If you drop you're cog not only are you going to hit the wood hard, you are also going to be laughed out of the velodrome. It's a great way to put on and take off cogs but its so simple just to put that lockring on.

    Books and Literature.

If you like Miller, you really oughta check out Anais Nin. She's incredible. Personally, I don't think her erotica is very good (especially compared to her other works). Read the books from Cities of the Intererior in order. I read one book out of order and it was one of the biggest mistakes...

    Books and Literature.

I very much enjoyed Plath, but I was so into her poetry. Some of her short stories were published together as "Johnny Panic and the Bible of Dreams" I highly recommend this book to any one who read the Bell Jar. Especially, "Into the Mountains" and "Superman and Paula Browns New Snowsuit"

    blacksmithing

I've read a bit about this and from what I've read, using rails as an anvil doesn't really work because it has too much spring to it. I don't know, though. Just what I've read. Spikes marked with a "C" on the head are high carbon.

    fixed gear bike conversion

I know this is an old thread but here are a few things to contribute. You cannot use any sort of single speed tensioner with a fixed gear. You will tear it apart on your back pedal. If you are going to do this, and I definitely do NOT recommend it, you will want to use RED loctite, NOT...

What have you used to stop mice?

I remember reading somewhere on an ultralight site that rats can't chew through 1.5 oz cuben fiber. That way you don't have to worry about killing them all.

    best gear to travel with??

ALICE packs are too heavy and impractical for my liking. Recently I got an REI Lookout after trading in a Kelty Redtail there. Bigger than the Redtail for about the same amount of weight. Plus it still passes as unassumingly student like.

    bringing a computer

I've met people in passing who've done this but it just doesn't sit well with me. The weight (even if its two pounds) and worrying about throwing my bag around and smashing it up aren't really worth it, in my opinion. There's always those little USB disks (I'm not sure what they're called) but...
