all i have to say is oh punx kids with their ranting and roving... when will it end. i understand the frustration tenfold, but it won't hurt to take a step back and take a new look at the world around you. if you plan on diving something such as the 99, which is actually making a difference...

ay man i know it's hard to resist fighting. trust me, i know. we've been circle jerked around up there and it feels like an endless battle, but only because it is. the best way to win is to do so with dignity and humility. the media projects our group like we're ravage animals, prove them wrong...

Anyone ever stay in a cave?

i've spent some time in caves before. you're gonna want a sleeping pad for sure to go with your bag, ground gets damn cold and stiff and you'll wake up freezing to death otherwise -- no exaggeration. what kind of cave were you thinking about? if it's more of a cavern definitely do NOT go past...

Homeless by choice, living on campus

definitely gonna be in the same boat soon. maybe by the end of the month. it's sad how much our age is capable of, and yet every day we're being thrown out in the street.

    college towns

as far as i've witnessed, and experienced myself, gainesville is a very forgiving city. you should be alright there, it's a dirt town to begin with and very communal.

    college towns

gainesville, fl for sure. definitely not orlando, our downtown area is quite a walk from the college, so you'd just be bumming around soon-to-be bums.

    Compression sacks

also there's a thread floatin around somewhere - you can just as easily look it up - of using paracord as a compression sack. i've been using this for some squatting the past four days and hasn't been any less than amazing for me. i'm a fan of multi-use and now i don't have to roll my paracord...

the ole mandolin vs uke showdown

so you've got the mandolin. you've got the uke. both completely different sounds, both great for traveling. i'm a six stringer myself but i'm thinkin about picking something up for the road that's a little bit lighter, so i want some opinions from some fellow travelers. sounds, durability...

    Compression sacks

funny i was just thinking i needed a compression sack, then had all this paracord and didn't know what to do with... works like a charm! tied the slack off with another simple knot just to ensure it doesn't bust a nut inside my pack.

Road Less Traveled? - Probably A Common Thread Name Here

hahah well that's advice well taken. truth is i'm in florida currently, so i'll have to wrangle my way through the tourists and snowbirds. since i only got about a month i plan on making it up to one of the carolinas, do some climbing there if i'm lucky and then just head back.

Road Less Traveled? - Probably A Common Thread Name Here

so I've been on StP on and off a while now but never did one of these things. mostly the learner- lurker- type, gathering as much information from all of your words as i can. i've done a lot of camping and ue'ing before but finally looking to venture out of my comfort space and do some out of...

anyone know any brand names of good sleeping bags?

don't know if anyone said this yet but mountain hardware has been my go to bag for a couple years now. i've gone through the keltys and they've been a piece of shit, fraying all the time and having to sew it back together. they don't compress too small which is a bad thing but if you're looking...

Hello Ladies! New female traveler looking for some inspiration!

I haven't traveled too far of distances, but I have been in a decent handful of shady situations by myself. As a pretty small woman I can say the best thing I've ever done is blow as much steam as I possibly can the instant someone starts walking my way. Now I don't mean act like a bitch, but...

    Chia: Superfood

my dad actually has been eating chia regularly for a couple of months now, he puts his in his yogurt, oatmeal, and shakes. even in coffee sometimes, which i'm not a fan for because of its slimy consistency. definitely doesn't hurt him tho, old man's able to run miles without stop.

    Bike Across the US?

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on doing this with the pup? I've wanted to do the same, maybe just a smaller trail compared to other I've found, so 300-500miles or so. I'm trying to think of Gear though because taking a dog is doing to slow my pace down, which means more food and water for...

What's your favorite piece of gear?

As far as camping and just being outside for a while, I'd be dead if it weren't for my Ben's repellent. Although the amount of deet in it is probably killing me anyways, mosquitos drive me up the fuckin wall.

    Florida boredom

This summer I'm looking to get out, want to ride the rails for the first time. Nervous and I would like someone who's done it before to go with me, I don't care where. I'll either be in Ocala or Orlando, hit me up.
