    Thoughts on this van?

Talk to people, too. I got lucky, because I work at Sears in the tool department, I happened to meet a guy who had his own garage and also does mobile mechanic work, along other car related activities. I told him I was looking for a van I could convey and BAM! Turned out he had am 88 Chevy Astro...

    Smart Criminals.

For what it's worth, the police can't technically give your permission to do something on someone's else's property, all they can do is choose to turn a blind eye. You're right though, sometimes trouble just finds you. Some will argue that if you're being the law, then you're stupid. I don't...

    Smart Criminals.

On the surface, I'll venture to say you are correct, generally speaking those in jail are "stupid", that is to say they did something either irrationally or at least with little common sense. On the flip side, it seems the vast majority of criminals are there on non violent dig crimes in the...

Leather jacket vs brown work coats

If your main concern is weight, more than durability, layers matter more. They're flexible and don't actually Add cumulative weight to your load. For waterproofing, leather is definitely da bomb, but if you can get your hands on a London Fog (lucky thrift store finds, anyone?), those are still...

PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN! LOL Sounds like you're pretty much all set again, well done. I hope you do find such a gal; meantime, happy hunting! Sorry to hear about your wheels though, I suppose you should get that fixed asap, just in case you need to bug it again. Sent using Tapatalk.

    Cooking in-vehicle

Good advice, all of it. We (there are two of us, plus, maybe, the dog.... We're still deciding on that) do mean to do some urban tramping, and we do mean to live in the thing, especially when "in town", thus the need for as much stealth add possible. Having said that, no way am I thinking of...

    Cooking in-vehicle

I'm not worried about my ability to cook a little something easy, I'm worried about lack of space! Lol I don't think I can overstate how genuinely tiny the back of this can is. There is about 6 feet from the back of the driver seat to the back door... But a little less than 4 from the passenger...

    Cooking in-vehicle

No sink huh? I was thinking of getting it to drain into a gray water jug, rather than draining straight outside, which we'd dump whenever we got a chance, but if we don't need one at all that's better. I sure could use the room! I like the hand-built bulkhead idea, I dunno why I didn't think of...

    Cooking in-vehicle

My problem is waking up in the middle of (say) Austin, TX hungry. You see my problem? I'd like to get my eggs on BEFORE we move out. Obvious;y I wouldn't want to cook inside ALL the time, but I need the ability to do so. Besides, RV's do it, that's what vents are for, largely.
  14. Jaguwar

    Cooking in-vehicle

LOL @landpirate Yeah, that's one reason I'm considering removing the bulkhead, but we're also traveling with a dog, so I think I might have to replace it, instead, with one with a sliding door (the current one blocks access altogether). That way we retain access all the way front to back without...

    Cooking in-vehicle

Hey guys, We finally got our vehicle a 1988 Astro cargo van similar to this one. (Pictures of the actual van will come later, I promise) It has a cage in it, but if I remove it I'd have about 8 feet of space by about 4 feet. In short (no puns intended) it's not a lot of space for a sofa/bed...

StP family IDs - Sock Monkeys!

Ok about the socks, does material or anything like that matter? How about holes, think you can just patch them up? I've never made sock puppets, I'd have no idea where to even start. OH! This might be a little more advanced an idea, but how about if those who wanted one sent their (cleaned)...

My fiance has a pair of Red Wings he bought from a thrifty store for years ago, wears them literally all the time. Hot, heavy, but tough. I have a pair of composite toe Avengers I bought new in the fall, also wear them (nearly) all the time, lighter than the steel toe but still pretty robust...

    Legal recourse for this?

Um... that's wire fraud. Western Union has pretty strict standards about this, and he might have crossed the threshold. (I can't remember if it's $2000 or $3000 that makes them start to take notice.) Are you sure he *only* got $2400? Is he? You should call Western Union pretending to be the...

News & Blogs Fining People £1,000 for Being Homeless Is a New Low for London

Agreed. Understand a lot of food is labeled "of of date" quite a bit before it actually is. This is especially true of canned food. Sniff-look-taste is a good policy.

News & Blogs FBI targets Crusties

I see your point, and point out the FBI (or any branch of the government, for that matter) is neither logical in its approach or careful with what they spend OUR money on, cause it's not their money. We should all keep that in mind when we're tempted to think of government as a benevolent...

First of all, LOL. That was ludicrously funny.
