(Work in progress) My son was morning sunshine in a hammock, the water in the river speaking with each rock and corner it passes, rainbows when yer already playing'' in the rain, and all those celebratory songs that get you up and moving your body and laughing out loud. He was born with a bite out of one of his chormosones, and lived a life that defied expectations. I wanna do that. I've served in the military, been a journalist and a teacher, and I'm an artist. My son passed nearly a year ago. I'm reflecting on my life and what I want to do with the time I have left, and am currently in the process of creating my beautiful as I progress in this world, because it is only by truly living - as free and beautifully as possible - that I can walk through life carrying the grief of losing a child. Live life lovingly, joyfully , intensely, and with grace and integrity.
