You could say that I dabbled in a little misfit travelling in the past. I am a loner in my early thirties who has decidedly given up on the idea of living something of what most call a normal life in the states. I have hitch hiked along the 101 on the west coast, lived in a tent city in Austin once, backpacked in Europe before getting stuck in Barcelona (long story), and hiked on the Appalachian Trail some before taking a work for stay situation at a hostel in Virginia.
At this point in my life, I am making plans to travel again, but this time to where I can be better equipped at being self sufficient on the road. I was the type who flew by the seat of my pants then, and it was fun for a while. But I kept suffering one burnout after another due to mental illness. I hated every job I ever held down, and as a result, I've had daydreams of being a freelance writer and an artist who scrapes by while living in a van. Now that I'm back at square one after being thoroughly derailed after what happened last year, I plan on putting that daydream into motion.
