main things are not to be seen or caught, but most of all not to kill yourself. people die all the time, even experienced riders who've been doing it for many years. don't get drunk or stoned before trying to catch on the fly (a moving train) or riding suicide (a train car with no bottom)....in fact, just don't get fucked up at all cause that's when mistakes happen.

My advice is to read the trainhopping section, lotsa good info there.
